Don't waver you pussy!! Although, switching to Brooks Reed is a good choice. Both Texans will be in the running. In the last 10 years.......8 DROY have been Linebackers. Don't listen to Mr E, the last safety to win DROY was Mark Carrier in 1990:wink:
Just to go on record I was the first to pick Brooks Reed, JJ Watt I dont think he will pull it out, not enough flashy plays.
call me crazy... but I think Reed and Watt are going to steal votes from each other. I think that from the defensive side of the ball, we are going to see a surprise player win the DROY. I wouldnt be surprised at all if we see a DB get it after a 7-10 INT season. Byrd from buffalo almost won it two years ago, and had Cushing not exploded onto the scene/been cheating, he would have won it.
Offensive Rookie of the Year- Greg Little- Kid is a stud, i'm thinking he'll be the #1 receiver in Cleveland at some point this year. Defensive Rookie of the Year- Von Miller- Linebackers usually win DROY, and Von is IMO the most talented rookie LB and is in a great situation.
ORY: Julio Jones - Guy is a beast and will be a top 10 WR in this league very soon. Denarius Moore (sleeper pick) - loved him before the draft ad hoped he'd fall to the Jets. Teams will focus vs the run and I think Campbell is a competent QB... we'll see. I'm expecting a Mike Williams here... DRY: Robert Quinn - He'll bring the heat playing in Spags D... Dareus will prob have a better season but stats count for these kind of awards. Brooks Reed (sleeper) - See above with Philips instead of Spags.
How is Von Miller in a grea situtation? Sure he'll be playing opposite Dumervil but the Broncos DL situation sucks...
Should of specified, system wise I think he is in a perfect situation to succeed. On a side note, can't wait to start discussing the draft again with y'all this year, the discussions here are truly great.
I forgot that one's opinion in a basically meaningless preseason award prediction thread can make him an idiot, my bad. I'll preface my response with a quote, "Where facts are few, experts are many". I'll tell you that someone can be classified an "idiot", or what I like to call an "expert", is when they enter a subjective thread with their own longstanding opinion (about Von Miller and his "over-inflated draft stock", remember that?) and than precede to call someone else an "idiot" based on their own opinion. But hey, i'm sure you're smarter and more knowledgeable than NFL GM's and talent evaluators, right? Anyways, the Denver Broncos did not draft Von 2nd overall to thrust him into coverage and situations he won't be able to succeed in right away. That will come with time. The Broncos drafted him to line him up on the other side of Dumervil and wreck havoc on the quarterback. You can't double team both of them, and Von WILL pick up sacks if he's single teamed; his athleticism, burst off the line, pass rush moves, and talent will provide that for him. Lets not forget that the Aggies ran a 4-3 in 2009 when he had his best statistical season racking up 17 sacks and he had a great Senior Bowl week when he showed he could play in the 4-3. Although its only the preseason, Von's put up 3 sacks in 3 games against first teamers and has looked pretty damn good so far rushing the passer. The guy puts up numbers, and the best numbers are what wins awards 9/10 times. And by the way, while i'm no expert, the last 4 paragraphs are facts, not opinions, so "idiots" need not pay attention to those.
I think Randall Cobb has a chance to put up good numbers in Green Bay. He'll also get return stats too. Being a third or fourth option in their passing game will hurt his stats, but he is a serious playmaker.
First I apologize for calling you an idiot. ( I was frustrated by something else and took it out on u.) Second Miller has great numbers mainly against terrible offensive lines the Seahawks O-Line has given up more pressure than another team this preseason and 2 of his sacks came against them. He has made as many bad plays as good ones. I live in Denver and have watched him play he has great burst but no pass rush moves he sometimes gives up on plays and can't tackle. (seriously I saw him fail to bring down C.J. Spiller. he just wasn't able to bring him down.) He also is quite small and can get pancaked. yes they do drop him into coverage quite a bit. Overall I don't think he will put up good enough numbers for him to win D.R.Y. also the broncos rush D is not good enough to force that many 3rd and longs.
Offensive: Julio Jones. He finds himself in the best situation of all offensive rookies. Hard to see him not succeeding with flying colors from the get-go. Defensive: Nick Fairley. Even if he misses a week. I use the same rationale as I did with Jones-- he's in the best situation of all defensive rookies. It'll be hard to keep him from getting his when there are two double-team worthy players on that defensive line next to him.
Bump. With it looking like cammy's got it wrapped up on Offense, it seems to be between Von and Aldon on D. I'm leaning towards Aldon on D winning, even though I would love my "idiotic" prediction of Von winning from the beginning to come true. Who does everyone think deserves it?
