I know it's a little early, with free agency not even started yet, but I was just wondering...based purely on the players themselves, which of these possible 1st round picks would you prefer if we stay at #6, assuming we don't draft Mariota and go defense instead?

Yay, first vote so my pick is winning by 100%! Really though I believe Fowler is the pick, I just don't think he will be there at 6.

An OLB over all else; there are quite a few top 5 prospects at that position compared to the relatively weaker CB and S classes.

Personally I'm a huge fan of Beasley, but I wouldn't say no to Fowler either.

i voted Fowler, and think he'll run away with this poll.

will admit that both Beasley and Waynes are interesting tho..
never know....our scouts could surprise us with this pick.

I didn't think Fowler would be there at #6, so I went with Randy Gregory.

Good strategy. I can see that's a flaw of this poll...seems like most think that Fowler will be gone by #6.

...but it is interesting to see that most people prefer him, although there were a couple votes for Beasley as well (of course that could be for the same reason that you voted for Gregory).

In hindsight, I should have had just Gregory, Beasley, and Ray in this poll. ..... maybe one of the mods could delete this and let me start over, since it's too late to edit the choices?

I want to address the secondary via FA. Get some experienced corners back there. Then we can draft a young pass rusher via the draft if we do end up going defense in the first round. Just a personal opinion.

Fowler seems to be the Favorite, sure would be nice to have a force on the outside

I went with Fowler because he's my favorite of the EDGE prospects, but I don't think he'll be there. Would be ok with Beasley too.

That said, I don't like the premise of the poll very much. If we're not getting a QB I'd really like to see us trade down...

No QB I want an edge guy. If the guy/guys they love are picked then I'll move down. Gotta go for the great player when you're in Blue Chip territory. No QB i want a pass rusher

Unless Leonard Williams falls to us by some miracle Fowler would be my pick.

Shane Fucking Ray. Really can't go wrong between him and Fowler both are going to have great careers.

Ray is a headhunter, he would fit in perfectly here.

well, y'know, we have defensive needs too. yes, even after a half decade of going D in the first.

wether or not its stupid to do it again is based on who's chosen and what our options are at the time.

    - Mariota is my shepherd; I shall not want defense in round one (if you don't mind).

    - He maketh touchdowns in green gridiron pastures: he'd leadeth the Jets beside the still waters of the Meadowlands.

    - He restoreth my offense: he leadeth me in the paths of touchdowns in the red zone and notwith field goals.

    - Yea, though he walk in the shadow of the great Buttfumble, he will fear no evil.

    - Thou preparest an OL before he in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest his head with good reads; his TD/INT ratio runneth over.

    - Surely goodness and mercy shall follow him all the days of his Jetlife: and he will dwell in the halls of Canton along with his 5 VLTs forever.

But should it be defense and not MM, let it be Fowler and if not, a trade down for extra picks and from that position, the estranged Washington Huskie CB, Marcus Peters.

Who do suggest the Jets draft?

Cooper or White??? Not as likely with Marshall in house.

Let's wait till FA starts before making absolute statements.
