AP reports one rumor making the rounds at the NFL Combine was the New York Jets trading with the Houston Texans to acquire the No. 1 pick so they can select a quarterback to replace QB Chad Pennington. As the rumor goes, the Jets supposedly covet former USC QB Matt Leinart. http://www.nflfans.com/draft/article.php?story=20060227065403169 Why would we go with Matt Leinart over Reggie Bush? I know it's just a rumor, but I don't think anyone could pass on Bush.
Because a franchise quarterback is a much better way to rebuild an offense than a franchise runningback. More than likely a team will ride a quarterback to the promise land than a runningback.
Yes I heard that from colin cartright on espn radio...but why? Whatever happened to the whole reggie bush sweepstakes?
but still-even if you trade up (WHICH IS A HORRIBLE FREAKING IDEA) then you shouldn't go to 1 to take Leinart. You should go to 2 where you can still get him.
Haha...I won't complain with any scenario the Jets eventually do. Whether it's trading for Leinart or Bush, staying at 4 and taking Cutler or Brick...All of those guys would make me happy.
I agree trading up is stupid, but to take Cutler is 'stupider'. My preference would be to take D'Brick at #4 or trade down around 8-10 and take White/D Williams.
Look at all the recent super bowl winners. Are any of them superstars? No, but their quarterbacks are.
I dont know if Id call Brad Johnson or Trent Dilfer superstars. Yes it helps when you have a franchise quaterback but if you dont have a complete team like the Colts show year in and year out you only go so far.
Whether we trade up for Leinart or stay at 4 for Cutler, as long is Chad is cut we have to adress QB with our 1st pick
Stupid move! If they go to the number 1, they better take bush. If they covet Leinart so much, then move to number 2 for gods sake.
