This is all I've been doing the past 2 or 3 years. I second this.

That's great if you don't mind lower quality and actually having to work for your music 1 song at a time.

Your best bet however is torrent. You get full albums and they come fast. I use the Utorrent software and thepiratebay.se for searching. I recommend using peer block software as well as it will prevent most people who are trying to get your IP to report you to your ISP. It's the fastest, most reliable, safest way to get music.

Why does it have to be jailbroken? If you don't mind, explain to me what jail breaking a phone is and why you would do it

It has to be jailbroken because it's not an Apple approved app.

Jailbreaking means removing restrictions in your device's default software so that it can run software not approved by Apple, such as extensions (tweaks) and other packages installable via Cydia.

The reason why I always jailbreak my iphone is because it allows me to have more control over my device. What Apple has not provided for iPhone users, jailbreaking does. For instance, Quick Reply/Compose. This has been around the JB community for years, yet Apple has never implemented it into any of their OS (although I hear it may be in ios8). Or, Activator Commands; centralized gestures, button, and shortcut management. File cleaners, mangement, numerous apps, etc. And, it's easy to do. I'm an idiot on computers and I've jailbroken all 4 of my iPhones.

Hope this make sense, sorta. (Sorry on mobile)

Thanks dude, that makes sense. So are there any cons to jail breaking or do people not do it because they just don't care about using those extra features you mentioned ?

Well, Apple says that they "may deny service for an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that has installed any unauthorized software," but jailbreaking is easily reversible, so you can go back to authorized-software-only whenever you want to. In other words, when you jailbreak your device, it is no longer eligible for Apple support if something goes wrong - but you can always restore the device to remove the jailbreak and then take the device into Apple for support, since a restored device has no evidence that it was previously jailbroken.

Low quality and work for it? I just downloaded about 50 more songs last night for a road trip I'm taking and it took me about 20 minutes.

The sound quality is crystal clear and you literally copy and paste the link, hit download, it takes a half of a second to convert, and automatically downloads to your computer. The download to your computer takes a matter of 20 seconds and while that's downloading you start the next song. And so on.

One of the easiest things I've done to download music.

If you think individually ripping songs from a youtube video is more efficient than torrents then you're sadly mistaken. Yes it's easy if you want to download a couple songs here and there but albums and collections or whatever is far better suited to other download methods such as torrenting. Also the songs you rip from youtube are sometimes music videos that have breaks at the start or in between and are not the same as the album/single version.

I never said that using torrents is harder and less efficient. I never compared it to torrenting at all.

No shit torrenting an entire album is easier.

Honestly, this is the reason I avoided Iphones like the plague when shopping for a smart phone. Apple prioritizes everything. They essentially control YOUR device, which is BS considering how much people overpay for those phones. You have to illegally modify the phone, risking getting banned by apple, just to be able to use apps that are readily available on most other phones, legally. Apple just sucks.

You'll never get the best quality ripping from streaming media / youtube. It can't duplicate what you get on the original CDs, there will always be a drop off. Downloading high quality packed torrents can. In the same time as you could download and convert 50 songs one by one, I could download 50 entire discographies that are ready to be burned to a CD or flash drive for my car without the need to convert or individually manage each song. Doing what you're doing is fine, it's just inefficient in comparison and has its limits. As an IT guy, I love efficiency and high quality so I wouldn't do it any other way.
