I was watching ESPN and they explained that Suggs participated in every practice this year during camp. In addition he even played in this past weekends pre-season game. The Browns front office said that Suggs was completely healthy and had passed their physical for training camp. They did not understand how Suggs could have failed the Jets physical. Now, for some reason TJ Ducket has been mentioned in almost all the comentary regarding this Suggs incident. I am starting to get the feeling that their MIGHT be more than meets the eye with this. Do you guys think that there is a chance that Ducket became available and atlanta contacted Tangini this morning? That would sort of explain a lot of things. How do you guys feel about TJ Ducket and why?
I feel he has been the classic underacheiver his whole career & I would not expect that to change as a Jet..
damit they are quoting me! I will just say that there seems to be more than meets the eye, or the media with this strange reverse trade. Maybe he tested positive for moose hormones or something. In any event they sound like they will be trading for a RB somewhere. I just hope its worth it.
Hahaha! I quoted you! Hahahaha! What are you gonna do now!? Hahahaha! But seriously, Duckett is an underachiever to put it lightly, but the guy can block better than any back we have on our roster save possibly Jamar Martin. But dude, the guy is bigger than half of our linebacking corps. He's not going to get many holes that big from our O-line this season.
If the Browns can prove that Suggs can pass a physical, and they choose to persue it, the trade can go through. There are protections in NFL rules for teams using a failed physical to back out of a deal. Failing the physical has to be real. In my opinion, Suggs did not pass the conditioning test...
i really want a cookie now...and ill take that cookie...i just have a funny little feeling about this situation...who knows though...
Well I saw someone posted what Mangini said in one of the threads today. It looks like the definition of being in proper shape for the Jets is extremely high. Let's be honest, did JMac really come to camp out of shape? If he was in bad enough shape to warrant a benching, how did he make it out on the field after one day on the bike? I do think there may be a little more than meets the eye to the situation. The Jets may have been happy to find an excuse to back out of the trade. However, I agree with Jetsin2004, he failed the physical. Whether that is because he truly is not in good shape, or if he is just not in phenominal physical form as Mangini seemingly expects really doesn't matter. He wasn't shaped up, so he was shipped back.
That's what I think too. Mangini is not stupid and neither are the Browns. Trying to back out of a deal using a fake physical as the excuse would open the new regime up to scrutiny regarding many other practices also. Last, but not least, even if the Jets did have the opportunity to get Duckett they'd still be in a much stronger position going into the season with Duckett AND Suggs.
