So I'll be coming back this time with Mrs Donkey in tow. She fancies the idea of the tailgate but less so the game itself as it's too confusing. So could she get a train back to Penn before the game starts? I assume that there will be lots of pretty empty trains going back to Secaucus, but if anyone could confirm we'd be most grateful. Cheers.
Wow. How didn't I see this thread. You better leave Mrs D in Manhattan my friend. Come alone. You will have an awesome day I promise. What section did you buy the ticket?
She'll be on the cocktails in Grand Central. Her favourite building in NYC. I'm in 226. And yes it's April and yes I'm excited.
@donkey 's trip is now really close (or maybe it's already started). I'm actually a little jealous right about now, I so wish I was also coming to see the game and visit NYC. Could you post somekind of travel diary with pictures, if that's not too much of a trouble. I would love to see and read about your trip, maybe I could get some tips for my next visit. The plan was to come this fall, that didn't happen for various reasons.. Definitely next year, already started saving some money.
Not left yet...Still got to work this week. Glad that Sam is back, though. Better see some life in that cadaverous offense... Can someone post up a real idiots guide to putting pics up? I'll see what I can do.
Yes, Sam playing is great for you and the Jets' offense. It would've been a travesty to travel all the way over the pond just to watch Falk get sacked ten times
Indeed so. I need to check train times to see what time I'll get to the stadium. Early though, I hope.
Hey my Suomi friend. I'm back now, but will post up some stuff from tomorrow. If there's anything in particular you want to know ask and I'll see what I can do.
Day 1 Arrived at JFK having watched 'Maradona' on the plane - whether you like him or not the film is great (personally I think he's the greatest footballer ever), got the Airtrain Howard Beach. At Howard Beach, got my metro ticket (it takes the cost of the airtrain off when you go though to the subway) and on to our apartment in Brooklyn. Nice and spacious, PM me for details - would recommend. Kept things simple, walked the Brooklyn Bridge at sun down, before a nice burger and a couple of beers at a craft beer place on Henry Street. As we were only staying for four days, basically looked to stay on UK time (ish)...so in bed by 8pm, but up at 6am the next day, feeling fine. I'll post day 2 later...game day and a Jets win...oh yeah!
Sounds awesome! Our hotel was on Henry Street when we visited there a couple of years ago, in the China Town area, not that far from Manhattan Bridge. Wise to keep your own time as much as possible, the jet lag coming back was not enjoyable at all. I had to basically go straight to work after arriving back home. We tried to acclimate to local time as soon as we arrived, it worked for me but my gf was really tired for the first few days. And the Jets win! That was excellent for you, and of course for the rest of us as well. Sam duly delivered. One thing I actually would like to know is, how was your tailgating experience (assuming you got the chance to go...)? We don't have anything like that in Finland in any sports. Thanks for taking some time to write something up for us, I really appreciate it. Hopefully a year from now it's my turn
First upload the pictures to an image posting site. https://imgbb.com/ is an example. Upload your picture to that site and it will provide you an http:// link. Copy that link and paste it here. I will edit your message once you post the link. Another option is to email me your pics and I will upload it.
Right, cool. I'll get some pics up Sunday... off to watch round ball football tomorrow at Crewe, after watching England beat the Aussies in another oval ball version... then a meal and home to sleep... so it'll be Sunday.
