Only reason I post this is because he has us picking at our #9 as well as the Bucs #13, taking Geno Smith with the latter and Mingo with the former. He had written an article recently explaining why this trade will still happen, and I agreed with every word of it. I do believe it will happen prior to the draft, and will include this years #1 and next years #2 or 3. Anyway, I just thought whis would make for some interesting discussion. Mods, if this needs to be moved, feel free :)

This should be in the draft forum.

Aside from that, I would be okay with Geno at the 13, but I don't know why Banks/Kiper, etc are so obsessed with Mingo at the 9..

I'd be ok with Smith at 13 also if he was the BPA there.

The analysts are all obsessed with Mingo because he's a great big ball of measure-ables and a linebacker (we think) and a pass rusher (potentially) and he looks marketable (Barkevious Mingo is a marketing analysts dream name) and the Jets have a history of taking marketable athletes and they need both a LB and a pass rusher.

It's also hard for the analysts to put Mingo anywhere else up high. There aren't very many fan bases buzzing about him. He's not really that good and nothing on film tells you that he's going to be an impact player at the NFL level.

So they pick the Jets as his landing spot because not too long ago he probably would have been the 9 pick for them.

I'd be surprised if the current regime saw him as a plus pick at 9. I guess I'd withhold judgement until we saw him on the field but he doesn't have that "too good to miss" thing going on right now and the Jets need that on the 9.

    9.13 Vaccaro,Jarvis Jones.

    Zach Ertz at 39.

Provided the first two dont bust, youve set the back end and edge of your defense for half a decade at least.

If you get Matthieu for the slot in the third, or fourth...

Youve returned a pretty good defense to the field.

If you feel good about Josh Bush becoming your FS...you could go OLB and OLB...

I've been wondering about that myself. In Banks & Kiper's defense, it seems nearly everyone is picking Mingo for the Jets.

On LSU Pro-Day, Rex was at SMU & it started all those articles with Rex working out Margus Hunt. Just based on the timing of Rex visit, I'd assume Mingo isn't one of the Jets hot candidates for #9. Yet, Mingo is still slotted to the Jets ... every time.

Mingo and Smith? From what I've read, this Bust & Bust.

Mingo looks like a typical Jet reach of the recent past...another guy with high sack production, but a history of disappearing against good tackles and not a very good cover LB. Basically, a 3rd down player and that's too little to take him at 9.

Geno Smith is a guy that also has major question marks attached to him and is only considered a 1st round talent because there's nobody else around.

Praying that Idzik is as smart as he seems from his recent transactions and makes safe solid selections that will build a solid foundation of excellence.

Assuming the Jets deal Revis for the Bucs 13, my dream scenario is that they take Chance Warmack or Jonathan Cooper at 9, and grab the passrusher they need at 13 (assuming Jordan is gone, I would rather have Jarvis Jones or even Damontre Moore, both of whom were consistent performers and beasts throughout their college careers.

Nassib on gruden camp. From Chucky: "You seem to know the WCO better then me" . Aren't
we running the west cost offense?
Gruden: Love him. Big and thick Can make any throw. Very accurate with great touch and impressive arm strength. Is this not the guy we are looking for?

Would love him in rd 2 but have a feeling the bills might snatch him up.
