Mike Vrabel wasn't selected as the 6th pick in the draft. He was a third rounder which is where a project player should be drafted. He was not even starting when New England signed him as a free agent. I agree Mangini had no choice to play D rob at NT. My point is that if the Jets stayed with a consistent philosophy on defense these would not have been issues. Had they continued using Parcells' 3-4 defense after Herm was hired, they wouldn't have changed defenses twice in 6 years. By the way, Mike Tomlin was a 4-3 defensive coach in Minnesota before the Steelers hired him. He adapted his philosophy to Pittsburgh's style of defense.
