IF this whole escapade over Chad's salary ended up in him being let go, would that be a sign as to the Jets drafting a QB, say Cutler (or if we get lucky Leinart/Young). Or would we take the veteran route and stick with the veteran and Bollinger at the helm?

I think we go QB rd1 regardless of Penny coming back or getting cut. The only way we don't IMO is if both Leinart & Cutler are gone..

anything better than the wounded ducks Pennington throws. I'm not convinced just yet that Brooks isn't the short term answer.

Cutting Penny = Trading for Rivers & drafting a late round QB (maybe Pinegar?), keeping Bolly as the back-up.

I think you can kiss away that pipe dream of trading for Rivers. Its looking like he might be the starter in SD with Brees the odd man out..

I don't know about a late-round QB. I have a odd feeling that if the Jets sent Kingsbury to Europe than they're gonna keep him around at No. #3 next season.

They are drafting a QB. Early rather than later I think. The fact that Chad won't take the restructure is a sign that he is still fairly worried about his ability to stay healthy. Jets are gonna have to bring in someone with long-term potential.

Most likely, or it would mean Abe for Rivers.

If Chad cant play.We need a quaterback with the notion of him sticking around for awhile.Examples Favre,Manning,McNabb etc im tired of the merry go round and the indesciveness that this franchise has put us all through.Browning Nagle,Glenn Foley,Ray Lucas,Boomer Esiason,Rick Mirer,Neil ODonnell,Washed up Vinny Testaverde,Brooks Bollinger,Jay Fiedler.

When we drafted Pennington we finally had a mainstay and guess what hes injured if we need to move on lets do it in a positive way.I dont want the 2 year Phillip Rivers or the 1 year Matt Schaub.I want someone we can build a team around.

It will be Cutler or Jacobs..... one of those two will be in Jets green this year. I am also beginning to doubt they will look for a retread QB via FA now.... it will be the rookie and Bolly.

Whether it be a first-day kid with starter potential, or a late round pick with potential for growth, the Jets will be drafting a quarterback.

That's the Patriot model, which the Jets seem so eager to follow. Among the principles are:

    - Don't fall in love with any one single player on your roster.
    - Use your practice squad wisely to develop your own talent.
    - Draft players with multiple skills, but speed first.
    - Draft a quarterback just about every year and see what you can develop.

    Just my observations.

we HAVE to go qb when we do cut chad if he doesnt agree to a paycut, jay is 34 and brooks isn't going to get any better. We all know that we are rebuilding so might as well start with a qb, with that being said though i would be happier if we drafted a rb and found a servicable qb for at least one year since we aren't going aywhere next year.

I hope the Jets get Cutler in the first and then a WR and RB in rounds 2 and 3. Then the Jets offense will be set with absolutely no worries. None whatsoever.
