People seem to say that Barret is a solid cb, but he's very mediocre imo. We need more youth in our secondary. I would have no problem if the Jets drafted a cb day 1.
Tell me im not the only person who found humor in the title Does anyone else feel that Barret is Overrated in some of our eyes( David Barrett missed games due to an eye injury)
if we drafted a CB first day id be furious..........we need all OL and one Offensive skill position IMO. maybe make a move for a NT. we also have derrick strait who i believe is very underrated. id say take a workout warrior DB in the later rounds an have mangini work with him
Barrett is a talented player, but he is as consistent as the aftermath of a grande burrito. He'll get picked on for weeks at a time and then shutdown his half like a PBer for a couple of weeks straight. I'm hoping it was the lackadaisical approaches at coaching and not his attitude.
But back to your thread, I dont really know if i overrated him. When he first came here i hear he wasnt a no. 1 but was a solid 2 who had decent cover skills and was a good wrap up tackler. He has filled in the description i heard during his short Jet tenure
Hes a solid corner are you kiddin me. Bill Cower told Herm Edwards after the 04 playoff game between the Jets and Steelers that David Barrett was the best CB they faced all year. THATS COMIN FROM BILL COWER. He also played very solid this year and he missed some games due to his eye injury.
Yea. He's looked good at times, like in the Steelers playoff game, and he's looked terrible at times, like the Chiefs game this year.
I think Barrett was overrated at this time a year ago. However due to a mediocore 2005 and the over-inflated expectations, I think he is if anything a little underrated. He's has proven to be a very solid #2 corner in the NFL. He is not the bum that some think nor is he the borderline #1 corner that some thought a year ago.
this is in '04 did u watch him last year? did he even regain his starting job l ast year after he cameback from injury?
For that reason if Antonio Cromartie is still there when the Jets pick at #35 I would definately want the Jets to snag him.
Antonio Cromartie is a guy in this draft i can c being a #1 cb, bu t i dont c us taking him. The kid can play football but he tore his acl last year and that dropped him to a mid to late first rounder
Actually he did regain his starting job and he was still very solid last year despite his injury. He had more interceptions then last year.
I have no complaint whatsoever about David Barrett being a starting corner for us. It's Justin Miller who scares me shitless.
I knew you were gonna say that but its still a good improvement and Ty Law was still dominant this year. He shut down Steve Smith enough said.
