Shocked that no one has started this thread yet. Tonight is Brad Penny versus Oliver Perez. Gotay doubled in Reyes in the first inning, and the Mets are up 1-0 in the second. L-Millz has struck out in 7 consecutive at bats. Apparently the record for nonpitchers is 8 at bats in a row.
Nope, it's nine, and it was just tied a few days ago. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/baseball/mlb/08/21/reynolds.strikeout.ap/
Penny walks Delgado and L-Millz to start the 4th. You know you have no control when you walk those two guys. Anyway, the consecutive K record is safe.
this is typical willie stupidity. sosa isn't a good enough pitcher to get starts over brian lawrence but he's going to be your guy in the 8th inning.
its not willie stupidity, is there anyone you trust in the 8th inning? no. Heilman is my #1 guy for the 8th, but Sosa would have to be 2nd.
Perhaps. Its for debate, and I'm one to jump on Willie if the case presents itself, but calling him stupid for bringing in Sosa was a bit unfair, IMO. Woo. Delgado up with men on. How will this fare? (0-2 already)
Sosa isn't good. Just because the bottom of the bullpen is even worse then he is doesn't justify bringing him in when Heilman and Feliciano are available. Again, this is a guy that got bounced from the rotation for Pelfrey and Lawrence.
