I didn’t think it was possible, but the performance yesterday was so bad that I don’t see how the coach couldn’t be held accountable. It’s literally was just dumb play after dumb play with Saleh on the sideline looking like a statue. I don’t know what has happened to this team after the bye. This is really starting to look like the Rich Kotite Jets.
No. No one is. We’re stuck in purgatory right now for the rest of the season. They’re gonna run it all again next year like this season never happened. Then they’ll all be fired for the 2025 season. Start scouting 2025 QB’s now.
Agreed. The team is in Rodgers-limbo for another year. As far as we know he will return so everyone on the staff gets a mulligan.
Listening to his press conferences, I think it's starting to be a fair question if he resigns. His answers are becoming more defiant and defeated. He basically said he didn't want Wilson, and his answers to the QB and the offense with matter of factness. Almost at if he is forced to live in his situation, which I don't think he completely is he just has no idea what to do. If they lost out, I can envision him stepping away from what I've seen of his pressers.
I doubt he will resign, if you are the coach of the Jets and you are defiant and defeated, are you going to resign? I doubt it because you want the money
I honestly don’t know what to think anymore. Can find blame that fits almost every where….. from woody, to saleh , to Douglass, to the oline , to Zach…to receivers from Green Bay. Only plus is that I have now done my yearly check out.
His record and the performance yesterday demands that he should have been escorted out of the stadium yesterday by security and a box of his belongings. But, you'd have to ask Rodgers. He runs the franchise now.
Unless he never wants another HC job again he won't resign. That would be his coaching death sentence. As for firing, it's a fair question. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if he were fired before the end of the season. He may not have had much say in the QB choice, either Rodgers or Wilson, nor in acquiring an actual competent NFL backup, but he also showed no ability or understanding of how to address the struggles of the offense, whatever their causes. He was in over head. He needed a really good, experienced OC from the start, and instead he picked LaFleur, and that is on him. And while Hackett might've been forced on him, he lost any say in the matter by not being able to effectively oversee the offense and step in when intervention was needed. And if Douglas has any chance of saving his own job, I think he has to fire Saleh now, even if it won't make a difference, which if there is a difference it will likely be worse. And then I think Douglas goes too. Unfortunately, no one can fire Woody.
I would hope that Woody has learned the lesson of the failures of the past to not fire either the HC or the GM and then retain the other. It failed spectacularly with Rex and Idzik and then again with McCagnan and Gase. And, honestly, if there's anyone who is less deserving of keeping their job, it's Douglas. This dumpster fire is entirely his doing. Rodgers must be one hell of a salesman, because there is no other reason that the crew behind one of the worst offenses of all time still has their jobs. Douglas fielded this offense, so he has to pay the price for that, as well as his negligent mishandling of the QB situation for his entire tenure to this point.
He should be. We led the league in combined roughing the passer/unnecessary roughness penalties last year and we lead the league in them this year. We're on pace to far exceed the number we had last year too. Zero discipline. The man is not a head coach. He wants players to like him more than he wants the team to win.
I think he's a good defensive coach, very good. Unfortunately his head coaching ability is lacking big-time. As already mentioned on these boards the team is so undisciplined with so many stupid penalties. Are we up near the tops in penalties committed this year in the league? Just curious. I would love to keep Saleh as a DC but we'll see how it pans out. I guess if they get rid of Joe Douglas, Hackett and Zach then they will probably throw Saleh out with the rest of them but I would honestly keep Saleh out of this whole group and make him a high paid DC which is what he's good at. I do not want another Joe Douglas draft or FA offseason. Never, ever, ever. He's been given more than ample time to prove he can't build a competitive team on all sides. Joe D needs to be gone ASAP.
If Douglas fires Saleh and ends up getting fired anyway, he'll be asking for a career death sentence in the NFL. He's never getting another GM job if he gets fired here, but scapegoating Saleh will take him off a lot of teams' lists for getting one of his old roles back. Not saying Saleh is great or even good (though like MLF I don't think he's the problem), but nobody wants to let a backstabber into their organization.
