Probably not, Groves projects to be a mid first rounder.

We can take Chris Long and someone comparable to Groves in the 2nd. Maybe Harvey. Maybe Crable. The more I watch the Jets, the more I want McFadden on this team. Ugh, we're in a tough spot. Reports are that the Ravens want Vilma. If we trade Vilma for a 2nd, then I think drafting McFadden is justifiable.

NO we are not drafting a rb in the first two rounds. We can't run block or stop the run, we need multiple lineman early in the draft.

Don't see it happening, but Shawn Crable should be there in the second, he's a perfect 3-4 OLB, if we could end up with 2 second rounders and pick up Crable and Red Bryant, I wouldn't even care if we took McFadden first.

But yeah, Long will be gone to early if we trade up.

Gholston, a junior, should be a first round guy, not a second. He'd be a steal in that round, a very nice outside linebacker from OSU who can replace Hobson. Right now we are picking No.2 - I'd take either Jake Long or Glen Dorsey or trade down.

Glenn dorsey is a waste of a pick for a 3-4 team, Jake Long probably will be taken first.

The jets have the #3 pick right now, not the #2

Ah yes, I forgot the Rams.
Guessin' Long is the pick for us. Perhaps we could trade down to a team in 6-10 range. Of course, we have no idea who that team is and if they want to trade up. Hopefully there's a hot commodity at a position we don't need - which is hard to believe, we have many holes - and a team is willing to swap while we receive much needed picks in second/third rounds.

  11. I see us trading down a few picks. down to the 5-7 range. This is gonna be a Parcells-esque draft w/ us stockpiling an infinite nmber of picks and eventually drafting linemen that fit our scheme.

CHris Long scares me. I love his intensity, his skills and his obvious intangibles in terms of leadership and FBIQ...however...I dont know if he's stout enough to play in our 3-4 scheme.

In other words, in our scheme..he'd likely make a great play rushing the passer or shooting off a block every 10 plays or so. However, he's not the type to stoutly occupy a gap and not give up any ground, which is what we need.

It may not be as glamorous as the big play..but we cant afford to see our DL get blown off the ball on every single run play any longer.

The Jets really need to sign Terrell Suggs in the offseason- it gives them so much more flexibility in the draft because Bryan Thomas has been invisible since getting his contract. Otherwise, I'm all for drafting Quentin Groves- he's a prototypical 3-4 OLB body-wise and has the versatility to be a down lineman as well

How do we know what Thomas can give, since he was moved to the strong side after a career year on the weakside. Give him another year, and replace Hobson, Barton and Vilma. I'm not in love with Thomas since he was a reach pick in 2002 - but we did invest a lot of money in him. Can't see the CS demoting Thomas at all.
Newsome is shrewd GM, can't see them not re-signing Suggs.
