Do you think this defense will do a lot of blitzing?

I hope not, I hope we can get pressure with our front 3+ either Gholston, Pace or BT.

Do you expect a lot of blitzkreig?

If you're Belgian and French, I'd said you should expect a shit load of Blitzkreig coming your way.

I expect smart blitzing. Schemes that can't be picked up with ease, stunts and zone blitzing as well. With Pace and Gholston we should be able to blitz 4 or 5 and get sustained pressure. We should not blitz more than 5- we have purchase/drafted the personnel to rush the QB effectively.

I just don't want to see the "Milling Around" defensive formation again. You know, the one where it looks like our D line is loitering in front fo the movie theatre.

It was an interesting concept last year, but all the opposition has to do is counter it with the run.

I agree with this. They will be coming from everywhere.

Throw in a few 7 man jail breaks just to give the QB's something to think about.

If things go as planned, this should be a good passrushing team.

    I think this is correct.

The better the secondary is able to play, the more blitzing you will see from the front seven.

We want to destroy the opponent's offensive line with misdirection; this means undermining their confidence that they know what to do because they recognize what we're doing.

The "mush" defensive alignment, as it was called by the defense last year, is a perfectly good alternative call -- if the rest of the defense is working.

Regardless of the alignment, if you're defense is stopping the run well, this is just another opportunity to undermine the opponent's offensive line, and destroy their confidence that they know what is going to happen next.

I like that formation for occasional use, and it will actually be more effective now that half of our front 7 isn't undersized.

To quote Clubber Lang, my prediction -- "Pain".

Hopefully physical pain for the Cheatriots, and emotional pain for the NE fans.

I remember hearing that EM wants to run more man to man mainly so he can blitz more. I hope we blitz a ton but that CB spot opposite Revis will be a weak link.

Our blitzes in years past had involved Kerry Rhodes too much. I LOVE Kerry as a blitzer, but only every once in awhile. His skills in pass coverage are simply too good to not have him back there...

I think the Jets will rely on the front 3 and our nasty LB's to get the job done. Remember...we have great depth at LB so we should always have fresh pass rushers on the field. Barton, Harris, Cassell, Pace, Gholston, Thomas, and Bowens.

The more effective our blitzes, the better the secondary will look.... :)

    Of course we're blitzing, we're playing a 3-4 defense.

i expect that revis will develop as a premier CB and rhodes will be blitzing more as well... then maybe he will make his (3rd straight) pro bowl
