Or are you with the Jets no matter what? I've been discussing this with friends (for the first time mind you). I'm 32 and I don't know if this is for me. If Idzik is back next season, I may leave like this: FYI, I would never become a fan of another team. I would just stop cheering the jets.
See ya,. If all I cared about was winning I'd have jumped ship long ago. I care about the JETS. ( as much as it hurts )
The "pure" NFL fans will kill this comment but thank god for fantasy football and gambling. If those 2 things didnt exist what would be the reason for me to watch any games next weekend?
Some will torch you for even asking, but it's a valid question everybody has pondered to themselves at one point or another. For me after 2012 i really had to contemplate my love for the team.
I've been contemplating this question as well. To me it's a personal commitment I made long ago when I was 8 so to just pick another team is like cheating on myself. This is my team no matter what. I used to get all mad and emotional about it , still do on occasion. But as I grow older I realize it truly is just entertainment, there are way more important things in life like paying the bills, health, and good personal/professional relationships. That said, the real losers here are the Jets. I won't spend another dime on this team until they make a long term commitment to being a high integrity, no excuses, and classy organization. Don't get me wrong, I'll still watch games and keep loging on to TGG, but I'm not supporting this train wreck of an organization finacially any more. I encourage you all to do the same. The only thing that matters to this team is $$$
No never. Lol I'm stuck with these losers and anyone who considers leaving the misery isn't a real fan.
I will never leave the jets, I'm more mature as a man now so they don't affect my day like when I was a young man, I just go with it, good and bad, plus how could I ever leave the gang green forum, too much entertainment on this board. Speaking of entertainment, Abyzmul should have his ban cut short for good behavior, how is he not allowed to participate in this wild and crazy time? Cmon mods, show some compassion, the jets suck and he gets the hammer?
I have no respect for a man or woman that would leave to root for another team. That says a lot about a person to me.
There is no leaving when you bleed green. It's not an easy team to love but if you can't ride out the shitty times then you didn't belong here in the first place. J! E! T! S! JETS! JETS! JETS! Till the day I die!
You cant really just root for another team...its like changing family or something. Can you just pick a new kid
too emotionally attached to the jets....gotta stick with them through ups and downs. Seen too many fair-weather fans and would hate to be categorized as one.
Hell fuckin no man. I don't think anyone who shares the same passion for the team could ponder this question. I do sometimes wonder though what I'd do if the Jets relocated or if they changed names. Idk if I could feel the same love for another team. This is what I've grown up with. Sports, football especially, are what I know best and the Jets are the only team I bleed for. It's tough times, but the real fans will stick no matter what.
If you are thinking that, you should probably just leave. Not trying to insult you or judge you, but there are different types of fans, and a fair weather type fan would really be much better off rooting for the Giants or teams like Steelers/49ers, that always seem to do well. With that said, I feel like there is way too much whining about the Jets and Woody. Older fans are just rolling their decades of frustration with the team over into the present, but objectively, Woody has been a good owner. We've been to 2 championship games in his short ownership tenure, made the playoffs other years, and have generally not been a bad team. Compare out win-loss record during the Woody years to other NFL teams, and we've probably been about average or better. Despite people calling him cheap and accusing him of all kinds of nonsense, I haven't seen any signs of him being unwilling to spend money on the team. During the Tanenbaum years, he spent quite a bit, and we still came up short of the ultimate goal, and then crashed hard. So like any reasonable person, he is now trying it a different way, the sustainable way with Idzik. When you consider how much money these teams bring in, 20 millions in cap is pocket change to these guys, so that wasn't a financial decision to pinch pennies, it was a football decision not to tie up money in players who aren't really what we need long-term. Also, just to throw this out there, if some of you guys are upset with the Jets, who might have their first really terrible season since 1996, how would you feel being a Raiders fan, or a Browns fan, or Jags fan?
It crossed my mind when I was a kid, but after all of these years, I'm stuck. There's no way out. I'm a lifer. It is what it is. I could never make myself love another team. It's just like women . . . you can't control who you love.
