Unless he restructures in a HUGE WAY...I do not bring back Percy.

Main reason is he gets hurt 75% of the time and the odds are he will definitely get hurt again next year.

Who needs Harvin when you have Chris Owuso? ;)

Yes. Should be an easy restructure. He gives up some money short term for some extra guaranteed money longer term.

It's imperative that we keep Harvin. He and Decker could be an awesome 1+2 punch at receiver.

Bring him back. No restructure. He's playing for his contract every year and the Jets have all the leverage.

If he gets hurt in 2015 send him packing. That's cruel but the NFL is a business.
If he has an off-year in 2015 send him packing. Not worth the cost and he won't restructure unless the Jets give him guarantees he will not be worth at that point.
If he has a good year in 2015 then either bring him back or trade him for a heckuva lot more than a 4th round pick. The contract gives anybody acquiring him the same leverage the Jets have.

It depends. If the Broncos franchise DeMaryius Thomas and the Cowboys franchise Dez Bryant, then I'd bring Harvin back. If they don't, I'd get Thomas or Bryant. Both would command a huge contract, but those are two of the best WR's in the NFL. When was the last time we had a receiver who we could say is one of the five best in the NFL?

Nope. 2015 is the start of a rebuild and he is overpaid and underproduces and cannot play outside WR consistently. Dump him. Won't be missed. Never made a mark here in 9 games.

I see the appeal, though I'd rather be paying him less with some money guaranteed than giving him >$10 million a year with no guarantees. If Harvin doesn't want to restructure than I'm perfectly happy with keeping him since the Jets have all the leverage, though.

Only if he restructures, he hasn't shown he is worth the 10.5M he will get next year.

I would like to see him restructure his contract. Harvin at 10M just isn't worth it IMO. Even if Harvin stays, Jets could still go with Cooper if they feel he's the BPA. It's insurance for the future also.

I'm not so sure; the KC and Minnesota games show the potential that he has.

11 catches for 129 yards against KC and 6 catches for 124 yards and a TD against Minn. Who else, other than Decker, can put up those numbers on this team?

Harvin is not a WR. Anybody looking at him as a WR is making a fundamental misreading of his value. He's a better, bigger version of Tavon Austin. He's proven.

The Jets shouldn't evaluate him as a WR. They should evaluate him as a playmaker who will catch 5 or 6 balls a game and carry the ball 5 or 6 times and return some kicks. He's a guy who the defense will have to account for on every play and with a better pass defender than a LB even when Harvin is lined up in the backfield, which he should be on at least a third of his snaps.

If the injuries do him in, well the Jets can just move on. His contract doesn't pay him until the regular season. The Jets have all off-season to sort out what to do with him and the difference is between a 4th and a 6th round pick. They could trade him for that difference any time they wanted too. They'd likely get somebody willing to offer them a 2016 4th or better in August when somebody else important went down with an injury.

Cutting and running on him is a move that you only make if you're a terrible team that isn't going to do anything at all in 2015 or if you've got a fair amount of talent elsewhere on offense and your cap isn't looking so rosy for the year. The Jets aren't in either situation. Even if they don't look so hot for 2015 they still have the prospect of trading Harvin for a 4th or better before the trading deadline next year and maybe substantially more than a 4th.

I would, we traded a fuckin draft pick for him might as well get a full year out of him.

Plus he can return kicks, so I definitely would.

How was 2013 a rebuild when we kept Rex? 2015 will be new coach and GM, so yeah, that's an actual rebuild.

The team is going to be over $45 mil under the cap BEFORE the rollover and the cutting of dead weight on this team. I'd absolutely bring Percy back (restructure or no restructure). None of his contract is guaranteed and if he sucks you get rid of him during the season.
