I know its only the first preseason game but as we all suspected the Patriots are in mid season form as they slaughter Jacksonville 47-12. This team could easily go 14-2 again. Ryan Mallett slipped to them in the third round and he probably is the most talented QB in the draft. I'm sure all their other draft picks will be rookie all-pro candidates. Albert Haynesworth will most likely be dominant again. Rex Ryan asked for some help in beating the Pats this season but I don't think he will get it. I'm simply frustrated that every thing the Pats touch or do turns to gold. Somebody put a curse on them or something because once again the Jets will probably be looking up at them in the standings.
I always remember '92 when the Jets went 5-0 in the preseason and a rousing 4-12 in the regular season. Look, the Pats will be VERY good this year, but preseason means nothing.
They'll likely win 12+ games, but it's preseason. Herm once went undefeated in the preseason. It means nothing.
As a Pats fan here a couple of things that impressed me 1. The fact that after the lockout and only 7 padded practices the offense managed to score 47 points with only FOUR penalties BTW that 4 penalties TOTAL in all aspect of the game. Now that is great freakin coaching 2. The back up QB both looked solid. Hoyer could start for 10 teams right now and be an upgrade (at least in the Pats style of offense). The former UDFA is going to bring us at least a 3rd when we ship him off next year....maybe a second if a team is desperate. Mallet is SOOOOO lucky he dropped in the draft and went to the Pats. He might never play a significant snap for us over the next 4 years, but when he DOES play, he's going to be something 3. The back up OL, and DL looked good. No sacks and 4 sacks respectively. 4. Taylor Price and Dane Fletcher were revelations. 5. No one got hurt 6. The only really negative was Hernandez putting the ball on the ground twice with fumbles 7 You almost really have to wonder, that when the "Varsity" finally gets to play, can they do as well.
Whoa... settle down there slugger. They were playing the JAGUARS! My son's pee wee football team could beat them.
it was a preseason game against the jaguars . . . If my memory serves me correctly, we won the last meaningful game with the Pats
what the hell would Ryan Mallet have to do with anything? you can almost guarantee that if he plays any significant amount of time, the Pats certainly aren't going 14-2 because it means Brady is injured, which makes Mallet completely irrelevant. considering that was the very first point you hit on, which means you consider an irrelevant player an important aspect of your point, it renders your entire post meaningless.
