As I watched the Brunell pass to Santana Moss in overtime last week, I just knew that the Jets were in for a brutal beating in Jacksonville this week. The Jags are a very good team - playoff team - coming off a tough loss - coming home to face an inexperienced team. Sure Pennington had his worst outing of the year. The defense was awful. Is anyone surprised? When picking this game I told LV Coach - Jets will get blown out this week. This is the first game the team showed no progress. Hey, it happens once or twice to all growing teams. They stare down the howitzer at an angry gunman, and the Jets got shot down. They had no chance - that's just the way it is. This is one of those weeks you burn the game tapes, and look ahead...
I disagree, they need to look at the defensive film closely. It's like every player was in the absolute worst position to make a play on every snap. There's something horribly wrong with the defense and they can't continue to chalk it up to learning the system.
There is no point in looking at anything from yesterday. Everything they did, they did poorly. There is nothing to learn from it.
This was probably the toughest game of the season, it's way too early and the defense is too good. The Bears pose similar problems later on in the year, but atleast we've had time to develop to that point. Before the season began, I expected 2-3 at this point. The real season begins now, we have the chance to go 9-2 the rest of the way out, and then the only people that will question us are the NY media and posters on this board. We will probably get another loss or two in there though. Hopefully that's it, if we win the next 3, we have a shot at being a playoff team. If we struggle the next 3 games, expect a long season. The next 3 weeks are the season.
Actually they did a good job of letting the Jags score Yes that's not really funny and for me I think I wouldn't have been surprised with the outcome had we not played the Colts so close. We looked like a much better team the first four games of the season, plenty of issues but a tough team that battles back. This past Sunday we got manhandled and beat down. Sad/Strange thing is that I see some of the very same issues our teams have had in years past (i.e. can't stop the run, slow first quarters, etc) and it's amazing that no matter who the coach is those things still seem to happen.
