I now know how Charlie Brown feels. Can anyone give me one reason to continue with the abuse? After 35 years, I simply don't have anything else to give.
It's not like being a Cardinals or Lions fan. The Jets actually build you up and then tear you back down in ridiculous and bizarre ways. Have to lose to a bad team to miss the playoffs? Yep, the Jets can do that. Need to look like fools, a la the Marino spike, to get knocked off the power train? Yep, the Jets are up for that. Hiring a young and exciting coach only to have him turn into a sluggish doormat on the sidelines? Sure, we can do that. Hiring a brilliant turnaround artist with a plan for succession in place only to have it blow up in our faces? That's doable. Having the designated replacement win 3 Super Bowls at a division rival? Piece of cake. It really is sickening. It's like if anything good happens to the Jets we should start cowering immediately because something much worse is lurking right around the corner.
