    Dillon to visit Bills

The Buffalo Bills’ search for Willis McGahee’s replacement continues today when former New England running back Corey Dillon is scheduled to meet with the team.

Dillon is the third free agent running back to visit the Bills. Dominic Rhodes of Indianapolis and Tennessee free agent Chris Brown visited earlier.

Buffalo is the first visit for Dillon, who asked for and received his release from the Patriots last week. The 10-year veteran wants to be a team’s featured back after splitting time last year with Laurence Maroney, who will be the Pats’ top ball carrier in 2007.

Dillon, 32, who spent his first seven seasons in Cincinnati, joined the Patriots in 2004 and rushed for a franc h i s e-record 1,635 yards to help them win the Super Bowl. His product i o n dropped the last two seasons (733 yards in 2005 and 812 last season), but he ran for a career-high 13 touchdowns last season and had 37 rushing TDs the past three years.

Dillon is the top active career rusher in the NFL with 11,241 yards, 14th highest in NFL history. The big question with him is: Does he have enough left to be a team’s main running threat?

McGahee is entering the final year of his contract and wants an extension. The Ravens, who got him from the Bills for three draft picks, are working on a new deal with McGahee.

The Ravens freed cap space Wednesday by releasing veteran starting left guard Edwin Mulitalo. The move saves Baltimore $2 million this year.
