I don't want to jinx it...but Todd Bowles may be just what this squad needs.

Get our D back on track quick...hold the fort, and let our Offense get it's shit together.

    Sounds like a plan.

Wish you could elaborate some more, but I agree. Bowles did a lot with that the Cardinals' defense despite injuries on both sides of the ball for Arizona. He is creative, down to earth guy who seems like he actually has a plan.

Macagnan was a guy picked by Woody with the help of football executives as the best candidate. He had a spotty past with his drafting, but this year (on paper at least) gave us the best draft in a long time. He seems to be in lockstep with Bowles as they seem to have same type of demeanor.

Chan Gailey has a knack for rehabbing bad QB play and his system fits the talent on our offense. Hopefully, Bowles lets this guy do his thing and turn this offense around.

All in all, we made choices that many in the NFL have praised the Jets for. Everything feels right, but that feeling has betrayed me before. I continue to go with the cautiously optimistic approach until proven otherwise.

No Schotty, no Sparano, no snakebitten Rex? We are going in the right direction I think.

Another thing I'd like to add is that we've seen such bad QB play over our history that its gotta look up at some point. With the exception of generally bad teams like Cleveland and Jacksonville, we really have had it bad.

that always sounded like the plan.. lol. I don't wanna just "let our offense get it's shit together".. i want an offense with a damn identity for once! Not just some sloppy 3 yard play calls because we don't trust our QB's to make a real NFL play. I would like to see the offense play to Geno's strength and that's being vertical and spread out.

    I get it.

I've been fooled before. I'm trying to stay positive, and this new FO hasn't given me any reason not to remain so.

It'll be an interesting start to the season. We may end up surprising a few folk.

Bowles seems like the real deal; but until we see how the team plays under him, we have to reserve judgment.

Nobody can judge Bowles as a HC yet and I really have no clue how he's going to do as an HC under the bright lights in this market, but just like when we got rex, is was a needed change.

The feel I get from most on the board is a positive one.

I wasn't on this board back in '09, but I'd think there was the same hype and optimism when Rex came into town. The only big front page difference is that when rex came in so did a 1st round QB with a clean slate . . .

How funny would it be if he turns out to be Roethlisberger II.

"Williams throws a perfect 50 yard bomb then runs down field and destroys the middle linebacker!!!"

Todd Bowles named to Sports Illustrated's NFL Top 100 influential people's list

It will be interesting to see how his coaching style and philosophy differs from that of the departed Rex Ryan who now finds himself at the Jets AFC East rival in the Buffalo Bills. With that in mind, The MMQB is counting down its list of the Top 100 most influential people in the NFL. On Wednesday, Bowles appeared on the list at No. 40. Here is the excerpt from the rankings: Hopefully Bowles can turn around the Jets' fortunes and lead the team to the playoffs for the first time since 2010 when they reached the AFC Championship game. With a much improved roster thanks to the offseason additions of Darrelle Revis and Brandon Marshall, the Jets could surprise some teams in 2015. I was excited about the defense, but then I realized Schotty was still here.

We've been burned many times before, so I'm definitely holding back on Bowles. Lets not forget that our past three coaches each made the play-offs in their first year..and two of three made it in their first two years.
The guy who has impressed me so far has been Maccagnan , but we've been burned at GM too. I will say this, the process to hire these guys was much better than in past years

I like everything you said except the part about Chan Gailey. I'm only hoping for average with him.

Marty was a better OC, but Gailey might be the better fit for Geno.
