Boomer's saying this morning that Rex tipped off the officials to the Patriots' potential violation of the rule before the game. Maybe that's why he took a chance on the FG, with the potential knowledge that the flag would be thrown. If so, then that's a genius move.
good for him if he said something ... although in his postgame press conference he gave no indication to support that statement. that being said, regardless of whether folk makes or misses the 50+ yarder i personally prefer go for it to gaining 20 yards of field position & brady the ball without trying to win.
Very interesting reaction from Rex on the sidelines though, even before the penalty was confirmed. Kind of looked a bit smug.
doesnt sound very likely - we had already kicked FGs by that point and no flags had been thrown but somehow he knew that for this one they would be?
Might have happened. Watch the tape of the Folk FG in the first half and you'll see the same exact cheating push violation by the Pats...I'm pretty sure Kotwica saw it too and the Jets may have asked the officials to keep an eye on it in the future Sent from my BNTV400 using Tapatalk
Apparently the Pats were doing the field goal pushing thing the first two qtrs.At halftime Rex and staff complained to refs n told them to watch the tape ( refs are only ones allowed to watch tape during game) and thats how the penalty got called
Let's remember stuff like this the next time there's a call to fire Rex because he was two nanoseconds late in calling a time-out

i hate the whole looking for a penalty aspect of the game nowadays. like after 95% of incomplete passes, the receiver getting up calling for a flag
It's an interesting coincidence that the Pats did it last week against New Orleans - you know, the team that has as its defensive coordinator Rob Ryan. I wonder how Rex got the word that the Pats were doing this? And by the way I am not in any way criticizing either Rex or Rob if that was the case. The Pats broke the rule, were stupid enough to not even know the rule correctly, and got caught. The only people they can blame are themselves.
And watch the Pats tying field goal and you'll and you'll see the same exact cheating push violation by Coples! Belichick said today on WEEI that Chris Jones was just following coaches orders and that the Pats have used that technique all year. He believed that the new rule only prohibited players behindthe line of scrimmage from coming up and pushing teammates.
[GVIDEO]https://twitter.com/tomecurran/status/392066713228816384[/GVIDEO] This is how the rule was posted on NFL.com before 6:30 last night
In addition the refs reportedly warned the Pats about doing that. As usual they got caught, like a cheating husband.
they did it against the Saints and got away with it and probably every other game Westhoff said yesterday that he knew all about the rule and would have coached his players NOT to push that way Belicheat is so certain that none of the officials will flag his sainted Patriots and him that he coached them TO push figuring he would get away with it the BUM got away with cheating for eight full seasons and wasn't banned for life from the NFL. why would you think a teensy little rule about placekicking would bother him
