And of course, if you did what is it like? Any major changes from 07, other than the rosters, that make it worth buying?
I bought it and I have to say that the game really isn't that much different graphics wise. There are subtle improvements but nothing major in that department. I'm sure they have really maxed out what they can do with graphics and gameplay in the PS2 version so they are now focusing on the PS3 and Xbox 360 games. There is a new game mode which is called fantasy challenge which looks pretty good but I have yet to really try it. The gameplay is definitly a little bit better. It seems like WR's no longer can fly over cornerbacks. The running game and defense also seem a little more realistic. If you are a die hard Madden fan then I would get the game because it is still a lot of fun and there are some changes but If you are not going to play it a lot then don't bother cause its kinda the same game as last year.
Good to hear. I usually play the game to death, but I am reluctant to get a new game system. But it seems as if all of the new features are strictly for the XBOX 360 or PS3. It is good to know that there are some changes other than the rosters. Does it do the half time highlights... or is it that only on the newer systems... Thanks again.
There isn't a huge difference from last year, but when was the last time that happened anyway? I think the game is decently upgraded though. The Highlight Stick is pretty useful running the ball and I like the new Hit Stick on defense (press L3 up for huge high hits and down for hits on the legs). Don't really care about the new weapons icons. There is also a new mode called Skills something, where you preform practice like games on moving and reacting dummies, it's kind of cool. Didn't check out the franchise yet. I guess I'm pleased with it so far.
I just played my first game. I havent played 08 in at least 8 months and it felt like I never stopped. The play book for the Jets is almost the same. All my favorite plays are still in the same spots. There are a few small differences but otherwise it is 90% the same game as 07.
nah its the PS2 engine. the graphics simply cant get any better. then again the PS2 engine is still the most fluid and smooth thing ive ever played. if we could ever get next gen games that control like current gen. that would be the perfect madden.
After I played that game I went straight for the superstar mode and this is where the game really shines. I became a QB. Gone is finding the right parent lineage. You can choose position, height, weight etc. and away you go. I had individual workouts with the Packers, Raiders and Rams all teams that needed QB's in the draft. Right before the draft they ask if you have any interest getting drafted by your home town team (I put my college as St. Johns). I said yes and sure enough I get drafted by the Jets at the end of the third round. Ends up I am 77 rated and am 2nd on the depth chart. With Penny's age and injury history, it will be no time until I am the starter. None of the big agents wanted to sign me so I had to go with the worst one. The QB's POV is different then playing a regular game, I guess it is more of what a real QB would see. I went through the first practices to get the feel of it and it is kind of tough. It will take plenty of practice to get the feel of the angles and when to really through the ball. I am getting ready for my first preseason game.
