Well it's better than the "vote of confidence" lip service that usually happens.....that just delays the inevitable....
I dont know how Jim Caldwell keeps finding work. To me there's a pretty good chance Stafford and Calvin are other places next year too.
I'm guessing that Caldwell is a decent human being and people probably like him and find it hard to fire him. Why they hire him in the first place is another question that I don't have the answer to.
I got a notification that it's very possible Stafford will be traded this next off-season. With that contract, I'd say it's very possible for Calvin too.
Yep only thing is Calvin is gonna be very hard to move considering his contract , age and recent injury troubles. Stafford however would command a pretty decent haulback even though he's been pretty average the last few seasons.
A conditional 2 which could turn into a first is wel worth it.. I think he has an ugly contract and he has been hurt in the past. I can't see a team offering 2 1s like cutler went for. He's proven he can play at the NFL level though so it should be interesting. I would welcome him or Kaep for whatever they wanted!!
Id much prefer him over Kaepernick. But Im not sure how much better Stafford would make us. He sort of is a younger version of Cutler to me.
Agree with that comparison but cutler never had the backing of a strong ground game or defense like us. He's always been asked to carry the squad. That wouldn't be asked of any other qb here. It would add an entire dimention to our offens that we haven't had since Faavre was here: a downfield threat thru the air.
Right...no one would actually give two 1sts for Stafford if they spent any amount of time thinking about it. You're redefining the term "no-brainer".
Well considering the amount of busts each year, and players that end up as average players, a qb that's thrown for 4,900+ yards twice, with 155 tds since 2009..I'd say take that risk. Seems obvious to me..but if you guys want to stick with Fitz, and Geno forever then fine.
I actually don't think Stafford would be a bad get for the right price. I think he would benefit a lot from a change of scenery, but I would not give up 2 1st rounders for him. That's my main point.
