The San Francisco Chronicle's Vic Tafur believes there's a 100 percent chance Derek Carr is the Raiders' starting quarterback Week 1 against the Jets. If so, how does that change the Jets' game plan?
I think it is a great move for the Raiders. No way Schaub was going to throw all over the Jets defense. Not saying Carr will either, since he could have a ton of pressure on him from the Jets front 4, but he has a better chance of burning the Jets CB's than Schaub.
Man, Shaub must be stinking up the joint. If Carr does actually start, I think the Jets win by a touchdown, intercept a couple of passes, and we get some false warm fuzzies a la opening day 2012, then we lose by 4 touchdowns in week 2.
My grandmother could light up our secondary, however Rex seems to do well facing rookie QBs , so maybe this will be a good thing
Isn't it possible that people from San Fransisco just like to stir up controversy about the Raiders? 49ers/chargers/raiders reporting is probably very similar to giants/Jets/buffalo.
Apparently Schaub has played terrible and is also nursing a small injury. Carr looked good in the final preseason game last night. A Rex D vs. a rookie QB should be good for the Jets, but I kind of felt taking on Schaub would be easy. This could put a wrinkle in the game plan.
Well lets see a rookie QB and this is a home game. Ok thats a win. BUT the next four games will determine our season. If we can split the next 4 and that IS a BIG IF then just maybe we can make some noise.
i think its a strong possibility as Carr has had himself a nice camp/preseason. That said....... a rookie QB starting his first game across the country against a Rex defense? i love our odds to fluster the rook and handily take the game (as long as we don't have to hide behind some wussy Cover 3 due to the CB's)..
This is a bad, bad, BAD idea for the raiders to do to their young qb. I like carr, he looks like he will be a good qb in the future, future being the word stressed in that statement. He will get rattled in his first game action, on enemy turf, with an opening day crowd and one of the best d-lines in the league collapsing the pocket. He will face exotic blitzes, stunts, cb traps and everything else rex has in his bag of goodies. He will not have the support of a running game to help slow the pass rush, and as we all know we eat rb's for breakfast around here. Without a running game he will consistently face 7 defenders in the back field, removing the check down option and making the deep pass very risky. His o-line is shaky at best, one blindsided shot from mo wilk or calvin pryor will send him into a happy feet world and we all know how well qbs perform that hear footsteps in the background. I hope for his sake they let him sit and grow a bit, but for us the pig is ripe for the slaughter
How about against EJ Manuel stomping us in week 11 last year (20/28, 245 yds, 2 TDs 37-14 loss)? Or Tannehill in week 13 (28/43, 331 yds, 2 TDs, 1 INT 23-3 loss) Might want to slow our roll about week 1 being an easy win. It's a game we SHOULD win, but we seem to have a habit of playing down to our opponent.
