Breaking...According to Adam Schefter: Jets making wholesale changes to defensive coaching staff today, per league sources

    Very good to see

they have to make massive changes there.
there was plenty enough talent to be a good defense. the DC has to go (Bowles should be gone too)..

if they end up moving on from Pepper Johnson, Karl Dunbar is available..
i think that would be a great move.. Our DL was performing at it's best with Dunbar.

I don't really know how you can explain firing Gailey and Rodgers both but not Bowles.

IMO Rodgers and Pepper Johnson are going to be let go despite the fact that Bowles is really calling the shots on defense.

Ian Rapoport: #Jets coach Todd Bowles weighing changes on both sides of the ball. OC Chan Gailey in doubt. Not so on DC Kacy Rodgers who called plays late

That sucks. Bowles and Rogers in/ Gailey out? Typical Jets...

Kacy Rodgers needs to get fired, Pepper Johnson, the secondary coach. Firing Gailey will be a mistake. If Rodgers comes back that's bad news.

how can they make wholesale changes to the defensive side of the ball and not axe the coordinator? That doesnt make much sense, those are some conflicting reports

Cimini reporting that it is unlikely that Rodgers will be fired, seems he will get more responsibility from next season.

I would rather everyone stay so we can completely gut the coaching staff after next years inevitable failure of a season. Completely start anew for when our savior Darnold arrives, ya know?

I think Dunbar is coaching at Alabama. That being said he was my first thought to bring back. He is a great d-line coach. Wishful thinking I guess. My other thought was if Pagano was fired in Indy maybe he'd come too. Not sure if Bowles and Pagano have worked together but the Arians connection.

As for offense. I would like to see Mike McCoy and to a lesser extent Ken Whisenunt. If I really got my dream but won't happen is that Marrone doesn't get a HC job and he gets the OC here and then is in place for 2018 but that is really wishful thinking.

Bowles firing Gailey but not firing Rodgers would further call into question his ability to be a head coach IMO. Jets continue to make the same mistakes over and over and over again. Bowles best tread smartly as he will be without a job soon.

oh wow i didn't realize that.
Dunbar with that Alabama Dline is not even fair. maybe we can coax him back into the NFL.

I was right with you on the rest of your post too until the Doug Marrone thing. ugh.
a universally hated coach, with a very questionable offensive production history, brought into this already messed environment... what could go wrong?

I think if he fires Gailey, he will have a difficult time hiring a quality OC as no one is going to want to coach for TB and the jets.

    good point.
can we get a quality longstanding OC in here (Norv Turner type), if they think Bowles is on the chopping block, AND there is no quality QB in place?
doesn't seem like there would be much job security.
