I have recieved calls from MANY Steeler and Patriot fans asking me the same question.."WHERE THE HELL DID THAT COME FROM?" I can only tell them that THAT was our D from last year and I don't have an answer as to where it's been.......All these guys really like our team and think that we will be a force in the AFC next year.....I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mangini had DRob play at NT until yesterday where he was practically useless. The OLBs sucked until yesterday when Bowens and Ellis made a big difference. The defense was very predictable with DRob being neutralized and the other teams running the ball at will. Plus they couldn't take at all. The defense was a sitting duck and very very predictable. Yesterday they attacked, moved the players around so that the Steelers did not know what was coming. The question is, what took Mangini so long to make the change. What was he thinking, he had to know that the defense for the first nine games was crap and he kept it the same for all nine games. Do we now go from a defense with no talent to a defense with great talent in one game or was it just coaching?
i would bet my bottem dollar mangini had to do with all the changes because i think sutton is unoriginal. those defensive schemes were very creative and i loved it. we utilized twice as many players as usual and we were actually an attacking defense rather than sitting ducks. i really hope sutton is gone and mangini becomes more involved with the defense next season.
That was NOT our defense from last year. We did not dominate a good offensive line even once last year. That was something totally new and unexpected and I'm looking forward to seeing whether the Jets can keep it going in Dallas on Thursday. The last time I saw a Jets defense just dominate a good team like that was in the early 80's.
that D on Sunday reminded me of the one against New England last year at Foxboro....Tough against the run and just STUFFIN them
Kerry Rhodes made the top 10 plays of the week on ESPN. He came in at #6. Now get this. Antrel Rolle's performance gets #2, and Randy Moss gets - you guessed it - #1. Why doesn't every entity in sports lick the jock of every player on NE, and while they're at it, lick Bill Belichick's buttcrack? Oh, wait, they already do. Did anyone hear Collingsworth on Sunday night? Made me fit to puke.
On my count I saw Ellis at OLB; DeVito, Mosely, Pouha, and Bowens making big contributions in the run game; and D-Rob getting penetration and pressure on the QB. Where the hell was all of this for the last 6 games and is it going to keep showing up for the next 6?
Defense played like they had something to prove , Now jus hope we can finish this season off strong. JETS VS COWBOYS , TURKEY DAY!!!
