That was fucking amazing. Deadpool was after my time in terms of comic books, but that video makes me want to do some reading.
Yeah now that Guardians is kicking ass, and Marvel has shown that you can actually make a comic book movie that's funny and it will make money if you do it right, maybe they'll reconsider and take a risk with it. You need to keep Ryan Reynolds and probably have an R-rating, but it would be fucking epic. Then again these are the same short-sighted twats that cancelled Firefly, so who knows if they have the balls...
Is there anything more to the character than LOL RANDOM! SO META! and lots of violence? Seems like something that would work better in small doses rather than an hour and a half + movie.
By himself for a whole movie I'd probably agree with you. This is where it gets tricky as far as who has rights to what characters and what not. If they could use Cable in it they could actually make it like a messed up Lethal Weapon. There's definite possibilities in the right hands.
Yeah it's him in the footage. Same as him in the dogshit version of Deadpool they royally messed up in Wolverine (except for the first ten minutes he was in the movie). He's been attached to that ever since they started talking about it. Still is even though it's in limbo. And he's a MASSIVE fan - he's been riding their asses to do it for years - so I'm pretty sure he's still the guy for the job.
I never saw the Wolverine movie. But even though I thought this leaked snipped was good, it would lose me when he wasn't wearing the mask, I hate the fucking guy. I enjoyed the action, and some of the quips were funny as hell, but you can do that with a bad actor doing voice overs in a cartoon. IMO he'd wreck the backstory.
I've only read a few of the deadpool comics but think he's both hilarious but also has a lot of depth to his story. People see the goofy antics, one liners and breaking the 4th wall and think he's just a gimmick but there's lots of interesting stuff about his origin story and his kind of anti-hero with a code approach as well as the fact that he's quite literally batshit insane. I intend to read more of his stuff and actually watched a bunch of the cinematics from the deadpool videogame. As much as I would love to see a movie unless they are able to find that balance between goofy insanity and serious storyline I don't think it would do well...maybe they just weren't confident it was done correctly so they didn't want to go any further with it.
I would love for this movie to be made. The part when he made a drawing up slicing his head off before he did it cracked me up. I wouldn't mind Ryan Reynolds playing the part
