way too much money for 2 years. http://canadianpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5jeW60Jr-wpQAo1S28YhFv5TPc8BA
depends if he can rebound from last year... but the Dodgers have had no luck lately acquiring veteran talent
I think it was a great signing for them. If he rebounds he is well worth the money considering what players are getting these days. If he doesn't they are only committed for 2 years. (BTW, I wonder where that 100 million dollar deal went that Boras claimed he had :rofl
he's lazy and he doesn't get on base much. 2005 and 2006 were aberrations. I wouldn't be too excited about paying a guy like that over $18 million a year. He hit .222 last season with 26 homers and the worst slugging percentage of his career. He'll be 31 at the beginning of next season.
With their pitching...in that division...if he gives them 260 35 105, that may be all they need. Plus Torre..that should give them another 20 or 30 wins. I love Joe..couldnt resist.
His strikeouts are way up since 2004. His zone rating in centerfield, once one of the best, is now near the bottom, and he's got to be up in the 230-40 range. He might do better with a fresh start, but that's an awful lot of money. He could strike out 140 times this year. -X-
I don't know if anybody in the history of baseball has ever lost himself so much money but sucking for one season. Hunter signed a 5 year 90 mill deal with the Angels, and granted the Angels are a little bit crazy to sign a guy .324 career obp, but still before the start of 07 most people considered Jones head and shoulders above Hunter. Edit: And still he gets a shitload of money, but he could have been looking at somewhere around 6 years 120 million if he had a year like he did in '05 or even '02.
