David Harris-LB-Jets Apr. 15 - 7:42 pm et Jets ILB David Harris fractured his ankle in the team's 2008 season finale, according to the NY Daily News. Harris was recently seen walking without a limp, but New York reportedly had interest in Zach Thomas before he signed with KC. It's possible that the new Jets regime isn't as high on Harris as Eric Mangini's staff was. Source: New York Daily News http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4197 I really hope the part about the new staff not being high on Harris isn't true. I am a big Harris fan and have high expectations for him with Scott by his side now.
Put the crack pipe down. Before the Scott signing, our best LB was David Harris. He still might be our best LB.
Harris is very good against the run and mediocre-at-best against the pass. I wouldn't call him "dominant" ...
WHAT!?.. i understand you're trying to say that once VG finds his balls and decides to play football, our defense will be alot better.. but yeah i don't get why you would say we wouldn't need them..
he had a knee thing in college, and now he seems to be having more leg problems. In sports, your legs are your engine. You have to keep that engine strong and tough to keep on moving. He's very good when healthy... let's hope he stays that way.
i would.. when healthy.. he's a stud. i don't think he is the best LB on our team like the crackhead a few posts up now that Scott is here.. but he is still a great LB..
There's a big difference between "great" and "dominant". To me, David Harris is a two-down linebacker - solid against the run, but a liability in coverage.
So you are telling me that a defensive minded coach is not high on the MLB from the former regime? So Rex is gonna have the defense play a 3 - 4 with just Scott as a LB? Harris is a keeper. From what I saw last season, Harris wasn't the problem.
At LB, Harris was the problem. He wasn't on the field so Bowens had to play instead and Bowens isn't a starter.
^So you've forgotten what a force he can be when healthy? Your option since Barton has not been resigned is what? When healthy, Harris is a very good LB.
Dropping some weight will be a very good thing for him. He added some weight last year (245lbs up to damn near 265lbs) so he could be the guy to take on blockers and let Barton be the leader of the defense. Now that we have Bart Scott we could let Harris drop about 15-20lbs and take some pressure off of his joints.
Mandoofis had Harris put on 20 pounds to be the "thumper" ILB in his 3-4. Hopefully he trims back down to 245 and makes plays all over the place next season in an adjusted scheme.
