I haven't seen this posted yet, but I have read quotes like this on more than one occasion now when it comes to David Harris. With all that is going on with Mangold and Revis and holdouts, etc, its nice to see at least one of the "Core Four" isn't worrying about his contract and is focused first and foremost on playing football and getting better.

Just one more reason to love this guy. He doesnt get the headlines, but he's obviously a great player, he's quiet, and he goes about his business in the right way. I'd really hate to see him get the short end of the stick and be the one to not get an extension. But I have faith all 4 will be brought back eventually.

(Link also has a long interview with Tannenbaum where he hits on a number of topics, including Leon Washington being a football decision.)

Jerricho Cotchery and David Harris do not get enough credit for what they do for this team.

Real Jet fans appreciate them but most people don't.

Revis said similar things early on in his negotiations. Look where it stands right now. When it comes to money, players will change their feelings and priorities. They play for money. Hardly any player out there plays for the fun of it. If it was for the fun of it, they wouldn't ever call "some talks" to be 'insignificant'. I guess we'll find out, but Harris isn't the best LB so his situation shouldn't get out of control.

Glad to see someone is not threatening in June to hold out of TC if they don't have a new contract.

He probably understands he's 3rd in line. He'll get paid.

3rd? I love Harris but I'd still put Brick above him as far as priority goes.

It's about time for me to be getting a new jersey...considering I already have a Cotchery, I think I'll pick up a Harris. I'd get Revis but I feel like that's going to be monumentally popular next year.

I'd wait until after his contract....just to be safe.

Yeah I got a Harris last year and was one of the few to even have one. They didn't even have them for sale on the Jets website, you had to customize it (for 10 bucks more than a regular jersey).. which I found shocking. But you could easily purchase a Lito Sheppard.. made perfect sense.

Next year everyone will have Sanchez and Revis. Whenever I buy a jersey I try to buy a less popular one that you don't see everywhere. Harris, Cotchery, Keller, Greene, Mangold all make nice "under the radar" choices imo. I'd also consider springing for a Kyle Wilson.. you know he'll be here for a few years at least.

I'd buy a new jersey but I seem fated with whoever I chose leaving - Vilma and Pennington. I want a Mangold but I won't get one until after he signs

Harris isn't considered the best as his position. That's why he can wait. Brick too.

With Mangold and Revis being the best at their positions, they want to get paid like it now. Its that simple, and its the agents talking.

that's why you buy them when they leave.

The jerseys are half off too.

I got a Jones and Leon for 40 each, $100 total after tax

So then he shouldn't even be considered a priority?

Problem is that with the labor issues, there might not even be restricted free agents going forward. There is so much uncertainty that its hard to just rely on the old rules.

The reason I would put Harris first is that Brick already has a lucrative contract through 2011. Harris, not so much.

    Harris:
    7/25/2007: Signed a four-year, $3.5 million contract. The deal includes $1.79 million guaranteed. 2009: $460,000, 2010: $550,000, 2011: Free Agent

    D'Brick:
    7/26/2006: Signed a six-year, $37.5 million contract. The deal includes $17.9 million guaranteed. 2010: $3.1225 million, 2011: $10 million (Club Option), 2012: Free Agent

If we sign Mangold, Harris and D'brick at least Revis will shut up about us not keeping homegrown talent... Mangold and Harris deserve the money now as they are severly underpaid for the quality they bring to this team.

I have never understood why fans wear jerseys with player names/numbers on them. Seems kinda dorky to me. All my gear just says "Jets"

David Harris is a true team player. He deserves a phat contract at seasons end.
