I really like what I've seen from this kid in preseason and last night. Milliner was benched because he was out of position and lost throughout the night. Walls stepped in and almost got a pick. Do you think he gets the start opposite Cromartie next week? Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
I am not going to judge Walls performance one way or another based off covering the non name receivers New England ran out there.
I think this is part of the growing process with Milliner We were spoiled with Revis' greatness from the get-go Darrel Green was one of the greatest CBs I ever saw and he was consistently beaten in his rookie year (1983)
It's not the getting beat so much as looking completely lost within the defense. He didn't line up correctly a few times last night including that wide open TD to Dobson, that was his cover. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
Walls has also made plays in the preaseason and the last couple of games last season as well. He could be a weapon at CB for the Jets.
What truly scares me is that Milliner was playing against undrafted rookies and he was constantly getting beat. He also couldn't line up correctly. I just hope he learns from his mistakes and improves, but we cannot afford a bust on the 9th overall pick.
The article today was quoting Rex sounding like a good father putting Milliner on the bench for his lack of preparedness. It said he missed TC/some practice etc from injury/contract dispute etc. It doesn't mean much at this point other than the fact that the kid isn't ready and CB is a tough position for rookies to play. Milliner probably won't be much of an asset this year but it was nice to see a no name step up well to pick up the pieces. Richardson jumped off the tape from a small program and it looks like he's a day one home run. Geno looks like he has a better chance of working out as a rookie than you really deserve with a 2nd round QB. Milliner will be a work in progress, not unfair.
A fair perspective and I agree with Rex from what I saw. He looked like he just didn't know where to be. I can deal with him getting beat but multiple busted coverages in 1 game is pretty unacceptable IMO. Sent from my HTCEVODesign4G using Tapatalk 2
I'd rather have him in there, instead of the other waste of space celebrating when the ball is over thrown like he did something..
I'd play Sanchez with a broken wing opposite Cromartie if it means keeping no-neck Wilson on the bench or on the slut. hahah I typed slut instead of slot. I guess that's when Rex would have to move Cro to the inside....he has the most experience covering the slut.
http://forums.theganggreen.com/showpost.php?p=2834313&postcount=19 "The X-Factor for me in this game will be Darrin Walls. He was graded by PFF as the best cb this preseason and as showing much better technique than our rookie Milliner. He gave up less that 50% of his passes thrown his way and I've read he's been stellar. The only thing apparently holding him down on the depth chart is his draft status, (UDFA), politics..." Before the game on the previous Pats thread. Agreed 100%
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...nerback-darrin-walls-should-be-week-1-starter I know its bleacherreport, but idk still, at value sake it was a tossup between Warmack and Milliner. I would have chosen Warmack, but i guess thats how much little faith they had in Wilson. I know they really wanted Austin and maybe they panicked and just went with Milliner at that spot. I really hope he pans out and get better technique, we cannot miss on first round picks anymore.
I was agreeing with you....lol but comparing him to a piece of used electrical tape really doesn't compliment the kid...
