I don't know what's worse, coming out flat in such an important game, or darrelle admitting that they were. At least he's being honest, I guess.

Revis doesn't come off that smart to be honest. Why the hell would you admit that, even if it was true?

No story here. It was pretty obvious really. This is all more the reason why we need to win the division next year, so we can get some home playoff games, and minimize the importance of a playoff win over NE.

    Exactly.

I dont get the other comments about him not being smart in saying it. Its beyond obvious.

The leadership thing is interesting. That means everyone was looking towards their teammate to make the play rather than taking the game over. That needs to change.

They need to fix that intangible if they want to go further. I can see Sanchez taking that role since he's in his 3rd year, and will get on the defense too if they aren't doing their job. Its his team.

I think after getting waxed by the Patriots the Jets believed they were basically cooked and really had no shot at the SB. That being the case, getting by them in the playoffs would be a huge accomplishment, and thus the letdown.

Revis should have made that interception. That play could have changed the entire tone of the first half and we wouldn't have had such an uphill battle in the second half.

    Oh well...

I don't agree. This year was huge, we've killed the bogeymen now. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady hold no fears for the Jets any more, they're tough to beat but they can be beaten whether it be regular season or play-offs. Pittsburgh hold no hoodoo on us anyway, we just happened to lose this time out.

He really shouldve. I'm not one to complain about catches since the coverage was great, but that looked like an easy catch for him. If Darrelle and Kyle Wilson catch those 2 balls we might be looking at a different outcome, even though the one thrown to Kyle was a bullet.

You know, we were worried about that in the preseason and it really wasn't an issue in the regular season...the games we lost we were just bad. Then in the biggest game of most of their careers that issue came up again.

    WTF?

    I'm just as confused.

The last time a team beat their arch-nemesis in the playoffs they went on to win the SB. It was an NFC team, and they got the monkey off their back and won their SB, and then the SB itself was a cake walk. This team got too relaxed.

I guess these guys can chalk it up to experience and they'll know better next time.

I do know that Sanchez said in the post game interview he never felt more prepared for a game in his life. I think he'll take over next season and get this problem solved.

did he really say the team needed more leadership and consistency? On consistency he's right, but a lot of that might be attributed to our young QB who in year 3 will most likely take the next step and be more consistent, but leadership????

Darrelle Revis SHOULD be the leader of the defense. I love Revis Island and I think hes the best corner in 15 years (Deion), but if he wants more leadership STEP UP YOURSELF Darrelle!

When the team was "flat" in the 1st half he should have taken the initiative to inspire them in the huddle and let them know what was at stake again. And yes, making that gift-wrapped interception in the 1st half would have gone a long way towards sparking the flat team and shown leadership. Am I wrong here for being really pissed about these comments?

I think the game would have meant just as much if it was at home. It's more about the rivalry than what the jets had to do to get there. What made the game such a big deal was everything that happened leading up to it(including the blow out), and because of that even if we win the division and play NE at home next year, its going to be a big game. The problem is learning how to show up the next week after a such emotional game.

Not at all. Our multi-million dollar man - who everyone complains doesn't make more big plays because people don't throw his way - finally gets one thrown his way and he DROPS IT. You can all defend him until the cows come home, but the fact is he had a chance to make a big play in a big spot and he failed. Of course it doesn't mean we should cut him, but I really wish he would just not say anything right now and just go enjoy his vacation in Hawaii and new endorsement deal with Nike while the rest of us continue to work our 9 to 5's and obsess over this loss.

a letdown was almost inevitable after the way the team prepared for the new england game. they definitely made way too much out of that game. the 2nd most important game in jets history... its personal and all that other jazz and then to come out and win, these guys really thought they won the superbowl up there in foxboro.

then the quiet week, against a team they had already beaten. it was a classic example of a letdown game.

they shot their load in new england and didnt realize they needed to play with emotion until halftime. its a goddamn shame really.

i dont see how anyone can get on revis for being honest and telling us what we knew and hoped against even before the game.

Considering it was mostly the defense sucking a horse cock in the first half and Revis is supposed to be a leader maybe he should be looking at himself and asking why he didn't speak the fuck up sooner.

I agree, our leaders should've stepped up and slapped someones junk. Bart Scott, Revis, anyone, someone had to give a wakeup call. I guess it happened during halftime, but man it was just too late.

It is just unreal the entire team got dominated in one half. And Revis, we all love him, but big time players make big plays in big games. Cmon he shoulda had that INT like everyones saying.

Especially on defense, the NFL is still an emotional game. That emotion is a bit like a bank account. You can draw on it, but take too much out and there is nothing left. No doubt, this is what happened after slaying the two dragons of Manning and NE at home.

Now that the boogey men have been killed, next year the mindset will be different.

Some men are leaders, others are not. Revis is not a leader of men. This isn't something one can learn. You either are a leader or you aren't. Revis is a supremely talented follower. That BTW is not a bad thing. Any team needs a mix of both.

I'd feel good about that statement if I got the feeling that they had chalked last year's AFCCG up to experience, and learned anything from that game.
