This guy has found his rightful position....1st base. This guy has to be one of the best fielding 1st basemen...in the league & also has incredible range at
1st base. Has anybody noticed this about him He's the closet thing to Keith Hernandez.....that I have seen. I think he has even more range around 1st base than Keith. Keith was much better at attacking the bunt; but Murphy will adjust in that department also. Mets should leave Murphy at 1st base & Wright at 3rd...for next 6 -7 years.

With Francour in RF, the rightside of the field is all "gold glove". But Murphy has really adjusted to 1st base & his bat is only gonna get better. Delgado.....yes he finishes out the year, but no need to re-sign him. Go with the youth.

Francoeur isn't a Gold Glover, he's a guy with a great arm and alright range. Murphy is far from, dear god, the best defensive 1st basemen you've seen since Keith are you kidding me?, but he's at least still improving.

If Murphy's hitting doesn't improve drastically, it won't justify his defense at a power position like first. If Francouer's hitting does improve drastically, he may not even deserve a spot on a major league roster.

    Calm down.

    I agree with LTS.

Murphy still has a lot of work to do before he becomes anything close to Keith Hernandez, and he's not going to be starting at first base if he doesn't start hitting like a major leaguer.

Francouer is above average defensively and below average offensively.

It's nice that they both played well in a minor league game tonight, but there's no need to go overboard here.

If it wasn't already known, this post would tell us that you don't frequent the Jets forum.

Murphy's bat is at best bench level right now and he is erratic on defense

If he can go back to the way he used to hit last year then I would agree with you.
