"People don't like [New England/Boston] anymore. The euphoria in New York is palpable. The Yankees suck this year, and they're bitter and mad and they're making excuses over that. Now they got Tom going down, so New York is excited." http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/09/09/curt-schilling-says-everyone-hates-boston-yankees-suck-and-ne/
Well... it IS true. For the record, I'm not a fan of Schilling off the field and I'm happier than anyone that Brady is out (other than the impact on my fantasy team), but he's completely right about this. Don't believe it? Go read the "Brady knee injury" thread. People are thrilled. EDIT: And people SHOULD be thrilled. Brady going down opens up the division and probably makes the Jets favorites. I don't see the issue with it.
It is wrong because he assumes all new yorkers are Yankee fans, because obviously met fans for the large majority at least don't give a damn about the yankees. He really should shut up he isn't relevant anymore
In a city of 19,000,000 they do. Especially when the other team in the city is having a horrible year and draws more.
The mets would have drawn 4 million even without the yankees stinking as for the yankees drawing more the last year in the stadium would do that, and even I won't compare Shea to Yankee Stadium, in new york they ride with the team when they are good, when they are both good the news is split pretty evenly, and when one is good while the other is not they support that team, unlike places like Chicago when even when the white sox are better it is still a Cubs town. Your views are just distorted to ESPN that just tries to pump the Yank/Sox rivalry whatever means necessary.
I gues it's sort of like the bitterness Boston fans had about the yanks for a Century and the giddiness they had in '99 when Vinny went down in week 1. I love how b/c of a few good years Boston fans act like they have had this type of success for decades.
he's an idiot, i guess he forgot the Giants beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl last year........bitter and mad indeed. Granted it wasn't the Jets, but he seems to lump all "New York fans" together
