Jets' Cromartie struck son, cheated on drug tests: ex http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/jets_star_struck_son_cheated_on_P3ymtrFrCKJ3c5dprGb6dP Jet cornerback Antonio Cromartie mistreated one of his nine young children, smoked pot and dodged detection on his NFL-mandated drug tests, claims an ex-fiancée in a new bombshell memoir about their rocky romance. In her just-published book, "Love, Intercepted: A Tale of Football, Falling and Failing in Love," Rhonda Patterson writes she witnessed Cromartie hit his oldest son, now 6, "so hard in the chest that he fell to the floor." Patterson, a lawyer and former Miss Black North Carolina, has a two-year-old daughter with Cromartie, his sixth of nine kids he's sired with eight women. "I knew that he had smoked marijuana on multiple occasions, but always found a way to avoid the NFL's mandated drug testing," she writes. Patterson also says that Cromartie sips promethezyne, a cough syrup with codeine, which is sometimes used for recreation. The book is an account of their on-and-off relationship, she told The Post, though she never names Cromartie -- referring to him only as "he." Cromartie and the Jets declined comment. Well, he isn't exactly perceived as a Boy Scout at this point anyway. Kind of like taking a dump in a gas station bathroom. His image was already tainted. This will be tossed around for a little while by reporters and then filed in the "Cromartie is irresponsible" folder with the 9 million other pages.
Always a great idea to publicly undermine the earning capability of the guy that's going to be paying you child support for the next 16 years.
Sadly it won't make him any cheaper, the jets knew about his off the field life prior to taking him in
well, not surprised. I find it hard to believe that the majority of NFL players havn't done drugs of one kind or another at one point... Cromartie is particularly irresponsible, which is something we already knew, maybe this knocks his price down a little, but not much. I just found this piece the most surprising.... They have a black miss NC and a white miss NC? Seriously?
No, that would be racist. Blacks are allowed to segregate themselves, but if whites try to segregate themselves, racism.
Uhhh I'm sure he did all this shit, but how does somebody write a book without proof? This is the biggest act of slander/bullshit I have ever seen. Cromartie just found half of his pay check..sue this whore.
he's going to sue the mother of his child?she'll just turn arund and take him back to child support court and get it back
Serious. This is America. Where the mom can be a crackhead and dad a DR, and mom gets custody and $3k a month in child support.
The first amendment? Right to free Speech? She has a right to say it, and it certainly isn't the first book of its like. But Cromartie isn't a super-megastar. It surprising to me that a publisher would take this book without proof, and without it attacking one of the nations biggest stars. But whatever I never claimed to understand publishing....
Way to demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of the first amendment and libel. If it's untrue, as the poster you quoted opined, it doesn't fall under the first amendment. Having said that, why is everyone so quick to assume it's NOT true? He's not a model citizen, and you never really know how people treat their children. He may have had an outburst and she decided to make some cash off it. The rest of it I don't view as shocking or horrible anyway.
please find the nearest camera and say your local mayor, or police chief is a child rapist, beats his kids, does the drugs he seizes, and see what happens.
Wow to her just putting all his business out there. Oh, well, she's just guaranteed that if he's not already, he'll be in the NFL substance abuse program soon. She does know what happens to any player that has allegations or suspicions like this made about them, right? Not to mention, she's running the potential risk of hurting his earning potential, too? She has the right to do what she wants, I guess, but it may have been better for her and her child with him, monetarily, to hold off on releasing this type of information until after his free agency period? Just me? Hopefully Cromartie won't be tempted to tweet anything in response to these allegations with the connotation of smashing faces in. Especially since she's alleging he has a violence/abuse problem, it seems.
