That sounds like Holmes more than other fans. At least Cro is consistent and doesn't blame the media for his attitude and asshole ways.

His Chargers teammates probably aren’t surprised. Last season, by their own admission, San Diego’s defensive backs bickered. This summer, they have found agreement on many issues, including this: They’re relieved that Cromartie is gone.

Kevin Acee of The Union-Tribune in San Diego:

The bad vibe that spilled out from the defensive backs’ corner of the locker room affected much more than even just the defense. More than a few offensive players talked about the peaceful and productive offseason and how the team didn’t have to worry any more about the secondary’s “drama.”

Acee quoted several Chargers, among them:

    Safety Eric Weddle:

“It’s refreshing. I can’t tell you how nice it is to come to work every day and not have that in the room and just knowing everyone is on the same page, everyone is behind each other.”

Cornerback Quentin Jammer, who was Cromartie’s closest friend on the team:

“We all know there were guys in the locker room who didn’t like him. He didn’t like them. We don’t have to deal with that now.”

    “It’s easier for me now.”

“I tried my best to put out fires, tried to keep the room intact, but it was too much.”

Agreed. It is amazing how often people want to make athletes role models.

Very indepth and puts things in a little better perspective. It's quite obvious he was the "elephant in the room". Thanks for the read.

Cro seems to be stepping it up this year in camp. Maybe he saw the lack of a vocal on the field leader last year and wants the role.

Geez we hate Cro Tebow Revis Sanchez .............why do you guys even bother rooting for this team?

It is just some people preference. The NFL is entertainment that they watch with their children. These guys are not at war, they are dancing chickens on a lit stove there to entertain.

Cro does have a lot on his mind. 37 kids will stress you out, man.

I think a lot of fans, myself included, root for the uniform, not necessarily certain players wearing it.

I'll always root for the Jets and everybody on the team to play well. I don't have to like everybody on the team though.

Forget the #2 talk, Antonio Cromartie is a borderline top-10 NFL corner. He just happens to play on the same team as the best CB in the game.

He was 6th in the league in catch rate allowed last year (46.4%, Revis #1 with 41.2).

The Jets as a team were 5th best in the league at containing #2 WRs, which is obscenely good considering we were #1 in the league at containing #1 WRs.

So yes, even though he says stupid shit, it's not enough to offset his very high value to the team.

Cro is the classic “under-achiever”. They guy has arguably the most natural, god given talent I have EVER seen on the football field. He also is undoubtedly lazy, cocky, and candidly, an unintelligent human being. I personally hate people like this as they don’t understand what it is like to have to really work for something in life. Who knows, when his football days a finished he may realize he had the world by the balls, but today he is a classic dip-shit.

An aside* I hope he leads the NFL in interceptions this year. JET 4 Life

No one's going to argue that he's the brightest crayon in the box, but lazy? Based on what evidence? He's a physical marvel because he keeps himself in peak condition.

Chargers haven't made the playoffs since they got rid of Cromartie while he helped us to an 11 win season and the AFCCG in his first season. Without him we wouldn't have made it out of the wildcard round if we made it to the postseason.

He might be a dick at times but I'll take talented assholes if they produce over choir boy scrubs.

I don't hate a single player on this team. Do I think Cro is a nut case and a soft player in run support? Sure. Do I hate him? No, in fact, I think I'm one of his bigger supporters around. I realize he is a great athleat, but a flawed football player and thats ok.

There is a difference between rooting against a player and recognizing his weaknesses as a player. Its part of evaluation and does not mean I like the player any less.

to a point yes. Revis to a point is a talented asshole. He puts the bussiness side of thigns too out in the public, but thats his choice. It does not make me root anyless for him on sundays. It becomes a problem where the asshole behavior makes them a distraction or earns them a suspension from the league.

Cro is a fantastic #2 CB. He & Revis are why every team is forced to go with their 3rd receiver & TE if they wanna go through the air. He's incredibly talented & has made some big returns for the Jets when their season is on the line. He brings much more positives than negatives. Is he as good as Revis?? Heck no but he's still pretty damn good.

Cro is an idiot though & doesn't make tackles. He does get burned when playing off his man which pisses me off because he's so much better in press coverage & great @ running stride for stride on long passes.

    ===
    Conclusion:
    - Cro is talented & productive as #2 CB & emergency returner.
    - Cro is a big pussy because he avoids contact.

Don't compare this guy to Cox, it's insulting. Cro has gotta be one of the last people any roster would accept as a vocal leader.

Cro is an jackass; but he's our jackass. It reminds me of Yankee fans hating Clemens until he wore the pinstripes. Once he's your guy, you tolerate a lot more garbage, so long as he's helping you win.
