He said that he was flattered by the interest but the timing isn't right and he's probably not coaching this year.

Don't twist his words. He said he's NOT coaching this year.

He wasn't going to coach the Jets for sure. Especially since we already have a great GM in place. Cowher did the right thing for himself, his family and his sanity.

Ego...why meet with a general manager when you can cut out the middle man and meet with the owner?

Not a good plan when the middle man is the immovable object..

What did you think he was going to say? The Jets are classless and their owner is a fool? People don't ever really tell you what they are thinking in these situations.

We don't really know what happened with Cowher and the Jets. We received conflicting reports from everyone. What we do know is that when Cowher left the Steelers, he said he'd probably take 2 years off. That's what he's doing. Stop blaming Jets management for everything.

im glad cowher is overrated at this point.. He is a good not great coach.. He just got himself into a stable franchise that let him go through some brutal playoff losses where he was favored.. 15 years and he finally broke through... now tomlin is 2-2 making the playoffs

He said he probably isn't going to coach this year and that he can't leave the team that is guaranteed to go to the Superbowl... lol

Ha. Cowher just basically said that it's time for Favre to hang it up.

Actually, all four of them said the same thing and so has Favre pretty much. There isn't much news there.

Some Jets fans wanted Woody to meet with Cowher and when he didn't they then said that Woody was responsible for Cowher turning down the Jets coaching job. It's always the franchise fault.

Cowher is an egotistical self centered jerk. The Jets dont need him or his bullshit.

Cowher is such a horrible analyst. This clearly isn't for him.

Probably because he is interested in having control over personell. Obviously, if this is your interest, then you want to meet with the owner to express those interests. You obviously don't want an interview conducted by the man who's job you're trying to take. Anyway, Woody snubbed Cowher, so I don't believe there's any chance that he comes here, not even in '10. He flirted with the idea of being a coach this year, but in all honesty I think he lost all interest in the Jets when the Broncos position opened up. After the Broncos didn't show any interest in him, I think he was caught in a Catch 22. You can't turn around and tell the team you just denied that you're interested again, after another team you were interested in doesn't want you. I think the easiest way for him to get out of the whole mess was simply to tell everyone that he's no longer interested in coaching in '09.
