I was inspired by bickety's Hobbies thread. Let's bring life to BS Forum. Enough with Politics. Tell us which countries you have visited so far and which city you loved the most?
Interesting topic. to answer your question.... "nowhere near as many as I'd like" Do territories count? most of my travels were chasing waves, so I've missed alot cultural "cities" (those travels will be when I'm old and so-phisticated like Brook)..... People of Peru were awesome, same with San Jose Del Cabo, MX. I remember when most of the Pacific coast of Costa Rica was rural / farmland... we'd give stickers to kids to open the gates of the family pig farm so we could drive through with our 4x4 to find waves.... I hear its all condos now Hawai'i is the USA, but still different. Hawai'ians have true Aloha and always dear to my heart Caribbean island travels when I was too young to give fair assessment, but good vibes all around, but most humans are cool to stoked little kids.
I've mostly traveled to the Caribbean... Antigua, Turks and Caicos, Jamaica. The only European country I've been to is Scotland and I fucking loved it. I'd go back in a heartbeat. The Scots were some of the friendliest people I ever met.
Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, England, Ireland, Greece, Turkey, Malta, Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, Honduras, Bahamas, Belize, Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Costa Rica My favorite city was probably Barcelona.
Had a real good time in Leningrad back in the eighties with a couple of cute chubbie broads from Helsinki who liked to party like you read about.
Since I was born in Turkey and I live in USA I will skip these two Iran Iraq Syria India Egypt Saudi Arabia United Arab Emirates Singapore Bulgaria Greece Slovakia Hungary Czhec Republic Austria Germany Switzerland Finland Netherlands Belgium France Spain Portugal England Republic of Ireland Northern Ireland Canada Bahamas Cities I can see myself retire: Barcelona Dublin Thessaloniki (Greece) Loved Tehran - Visited Shah's Palace and Humeyni's tomb. Went to Tehran University attended a medical class there as a visitor. Held at Tehran airport for almost 3 hours for being suspected to be a secret service agent as I tried to fly from Tehran to London with Turkish passport. Felt in love with a Bulgarian woman while in Sofia as she was 10 years older than I was. Eventually, as luck will have it, found love of my love in Turkey who was born in Bulgaria. Hated Saudi Arabia - Fucking ingrates. Loved Egypt - Went to Cairo Zoo with my wife and held a baby lion in my hands. Hated Brugges, Belgium as I was beaten while trying to watch Galatasaray play against Club Burgge. Barcelona my love. Tapa Tapa chain restaurant is where I could 10 dishes and no be judged. India - Land of poverty. But I loved it. People's hospitality trumps everything. London, England - City I lived for 6 months. Still love it and go there once every 2-3 years. Might continue later.
Brilliant stuff. I had an amazing summer in Bulgaria many years ago (as you might guess from my user name). Love the Brugges story, that's so badass (must have sucked at the time tho). Paris, Normandy, Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Krackow, Warsaw, Berlin, Bulgaria, Israel, Canada (east and west), Iceland, Barcelona, Valencia (Copa del Rey final between Barca and Real Madrid), Portugal, Norway, and this summer, Santorini, Greece, and London. Hard to pick a favorite-- loved all of it. Hoping to retire to one of these places one day-- Portugal, where my brother and family live, or Santorini maybe!
South Korea Australia (Sydney, Brisbane, Great Barrier Reef*) Canada (Montreal, Vancouver) Mexico (Cancun, Puerto Vallarta) Bahamas (Treasure Cay) Puerto Rico (San Juan, Vieques*) USVI (St Thomas, St John) BVI (Tortola, Jost Van Dyke) Grand Cayman Cuba* (Havana, Bay of Pigs) St Maarten St Barts St Kitts & Nevis* Antigua St Lucia Greece* (Athens, Mykonos, Santorini) Just started on Europe this year, many more stops to make - maybe the Iberian Peninsula next, I can see London, Paris and Rome when I'm old. The *s represent favorite places. I guess you could say I favor the out of the way places - especially when they're warm.
Australia (NSW & Victoria) Britain Canada Ireland Japan Malaysia Singapore South Korea Switzerland Taiwan USA (about 15 or 16 states so far) Vanuatu Pretty keen to explore some of Central/South America at some stage, as well as Europe.
I’ve been nowhere sadly. Lots of places in the us. Bahamas, Canada. One of the downfalls of growing up in, and then becoming self employed. You can’t leave. Really want to go to Ireland, England, Scotland. One day. Would also love to visit the pyramids in Egypt. But I know that won’t happen. edit- to add Switzerland. Would love to go there just for the landscapes
England Scotland Ireland Spain Portugal France Norway Netherlands Sweden Mexico Brazil Africa South Africa Canada Bahamas Jamaica Barbados I’m sure I’m forgetting some.
Austria Belgium California Canada Denmark England France Germany Holland Italy Mexico Scotland Sweden Switzerland Texas Yugoslavia I think that's it. Brooklyn if you count Brooklyn as a separate country which some do.
Canada Mexico Ireland Iceland UK/Scotland Aruba Bahamas Jamaica St. Kitts/Nevis Belize PR DR Bermuda I"m probably leaving out a little Island country. I'm also going to France this November.
A few, before Covid. Looking forward to travelling again. England Scotland Wales Northern Ireland Republic of Ireland France Germany Belgium Holland Spain Portugal Italy Iceland Finland Sweden Czech Republic Poland Slovenia Croatia Greece Austria Hungary China Thailand Australia USA Canada Bermuda Morocco Tunisia South Africa United Arab Emirates Luxembourg The best cities in the world (that I have visited) are Prague, Rome, London, New York and Cape Town. Oh yeah, Berlin is great too, and Budapest...I so love cities, can't be bothered with beach holidays.
