I was just curious. No way they can afford to keep him with Bush on the team. He's a great running back when healthy. I would love to have him on the team. If he stays healthy do you think the Jets should make a move to pick him up?
I just wonder if it's doable. I mean he's gonna command a good amount of money but he's worth it if healthy. Is it better to pick him up or pick someone up in the draft?
Why spend all that cap money when you should be able to get a very good back in the 1st or 2nd round? Look how Marouney is working out for New England.
I think we should really give Houston a chance. He's been the best RB i've seen so far. Any word on the MRI?
True but I'm saying all else equal....if we have the opportunity to pick him up and use whatever draft pick we have to add another glaring need should we do it? I don't really know if Houston is an every down back althuogh he's looked good so far. I definetly don't think Washington is although he's a great change of pace guy. I would love to see Houston for the rest of the year and make a decision based on how he plays.
Well I know the Jets own their own 1st and 2nd round picks next year and also Washington's in the 2nd rounds. Regarding the cap, one ramification of Chad having a professional re-birth is that they are going to have to pay him next year. They got off cheap this year with him - I think 3 million base but I am not sure how all his incentives are going to kick in that they are going to owe him based on this years play.
i say we go after michael turner after this season. then we go for a either a big ass DT or hybrid linebacker in the draft.
LOL at first I thought this thread was about Chris mcCalister instead of Deuce. Whoops  Unfortunately this isnt a dream world. About Deuce, id rather have a speedier back that can also run with power ala Maroney. At this point hes a power back
As average as our runningbacks have been, our pass rushing linebacker and nose tackle have been downright horrible. The running game will pick up with better offensive line play after they gel together, and giving more time to our better runners (C. Houston). You can't fix nose tackle or linebacker because they control their own destiny in a sense. You can have outstanding ends, and they won't help a nose tackle, at all. Outside pass rushers are often one on one, so they need to generate pressure on their own. A guy like Quentin Moses, Lamarr Woodley, or Tim Crowder could help us a lot at OLB. Alan Branch, Amobi Okoye, and Harrell could all be effective two gappers. You can insert someone into runningback even as a stop gap although I think Leon Washington and Cedric Houston are better than that. You can't pull a nose tackle out of your ass and expect to have an effective run stopping 3-4.
I'd be much more happy with McCallister, a proven runner, then Michael Turner. McCallister is a truck.
They afforded it this year, why can't they afford it next? I don't know their cap situation, but it's the same as this year, or close to it, as far as the RBs are concerned.
I'd like to see the Giants take a shot on him if they use their top draft picks to improve other trouble areas. Lord knows there's plenty of trouble areas.
I'm going to say draft. He will be a big risk in my opinion. I rather have Turner pick up Lynch from the draft.
New Orleans LOVES their 1-2 duo of McAlister & Bush and both backs are happy at where they are. New Orleans obviously can afford both if they havn't even looked into trading Duece and expect him to be there teamed up with Reggie for the long haul. No way is there a trade possible unless you're willing to give up pretty much everything. If you want a veteran back, Ahman Green will be out there.
