JCo & Smith Are No-Gos...Again. Now By Kimberley A. Martin For the second straight week, wide receivers Jerricho Cotchery Brad Smith will not be able to play, said coach Rex Ryan. CB Lito Sheppard is also ruled out for Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders. JCo is still hampered by a hamstring injury and Smith (quad) may be two weeks away from being game-ready." Said Rex: "I was hoping Jerricho was going to be able to do it. (But) To make that trip all the way out there... "We feel it's best he stays back and rehabs. We'll hopefully get him back 100 percent for next week." WR David Clowney will replace him in the starting lineup. Added Rex: "As far as Lito, we have to push himm out of this building at night. He's trying to do everything he can. He's just not ready. "Brad is better. I thought Brad was less likely to play than Jerricho and I'm not sure he'll be able to play next week." CB Donald Strickland (ankle) and T Damien Woody (knee and foot) are questionable for Sunday, though Rex said he thinks both will play... WR Braylon Edwards (quad), DE Shaun Ellis (knee), LB David Harris (wrist), LB Larry Izzo (hamstring), LB Marques Murrell (head), S Kerry Rhodes (knee), LB Bryan Thomas (wrist) and WR Wallace Wright (knee) are all probable.
I read in another thread that Rex mentioned Cotch was OUT for this game. Certainly a big loss.....but Sanchez should be able to adjust. Hopefully he worked on his chemistry with his other weapons in this offence.
hopefully they run on 2 of three downs per possession now instead of 1 and abandon. gonna be a long day if we dont commit to the run and be successful early.
I've heard that Nnamdi stays on one side of the field and doesn't follow the #1 receiver around. Does anyone know if that's true?
That wouldn't make a lot of sense to me. Teams could just motion their #1 to the opposite side from him all day long.
chris johnson covers the #1 a lot.. NNamdi will cover Hartsock if we flanked him out wide.... His metrics are in 5 games (he missed 1) he has given up 7 completions in 8 attempts, has 0 pass deflections.. What value does this guy have to his team, it's minimal at best..
yeah with cotchery out people here would be downright ignorant to think they let Asamougha waste his talent covering Clowney with Edwards on the other side? gimme a break its gonna be Asamougha vs Edwards all day man coverage. if Edwards can come away with a solid game itll speak volumes. otherwise we need to just pound the fucking rock.
Apparently you havent watched any raiders games, not blaming you why would you, but I got the dish so I flip around.. He stays on the left side he wont move for nothing.. Andre Johnson was matched up with Chris johnson all game.. Nnamdi cant cover in the slot he's too tall for that.
Yeah, the further we get from teh pre-season and camp hype, the less Clowney looks like he will be a help. Watch the Raiders try and do pretty much what Buff did - double Edwards, one cb on Clowney, front seven up on slants and screens. Keller is best suited to break that approach. Hopefully he has a good game.
I've heard that he stays on one side of the field and apparently others have seen it happen. I was just asking a question, maybe I'm not the one who is ignorant. I usually love your posts Coach K, but wtf.
rofl......no no no no man. me and you are good. I was speaking specifically for this game. I'm not calling you ignorant. not at all. your right. the way their system is, MOST games he remains on one side and shuts it down. I'm saying, specifically for the gameplan this week. theres no way the Raiders let Asamougha be in a wasteland with Clowney while we feast on the other side. and I wasnt aiming that at you. I was saying it pre-emptively for all the people who will be saying that we will shred them up because of this. Trust me were good.
Just run the damn ball and work in a lot of screens to Washington and Jones and we will be fine. If the game is placed on Sanchez's arm at this juncture in his career we are doomed.
