Jets | Smith listed as receiver and quarterback Thu, 7 Sep 2006 22:21:44 -0700 Colin Stephenson, of the Star-Ledger, reports New York Jets WR Brad Smith was listed as the No. 3 wide receiver on the team's unofficial depth chart Thursday, Sept. 7, while he also was put as the team's No. 4 quarterback. I wouldn't hate that at all... do you guys think JMAC is on the move?
Sweet....hes got to be doing great at practice, and hes shown so much already...great move Mangini.... id say J Mac is going to be used sparingly until we can deal him...
I'm finding it hard to believe... but it would be nice to see. I'm done with JMAC and his dropped passes. Well it says its unofficial so who knows, the Jets PR dept probably had to put something up to keep the media happy.
dude why dont you just go to nyjets.com and check out their depth chart? brad smith is listed BEHIND coles, cotch, dwight and mccareins on BOTH wr spots. so he's no.5 right now
Dumb move by the Jets. I'd start him a few of the games and try and get him the ball. By placing him that far down, it proves to teams that we have no need for him and he's an average ball player. They'll never give top dollar for him and right now we could probably squeeze a 4th or 5th for him.
Jmac...can't catch....has no break away speed.....not stong across the middle....NO DB has a fear when he lines up....GET RID of this GUY ALREADY!!
That I'll disagree with. He's a good receiver over the middle and how quickly we forget his 700 campaign as the #2 guy here in 2004. He had a bad season last year, but he's a quality possesion receiver. If he can get rid of his dropsys after contact from last year, then hes a very adequate receiver. I think that he either has a bad work ethic, or that the new regime wants to establish that they don't like many of the Herm era players and are going in a different direction.
That is exactly it. He isn't the #3 overall, he is the #3 on his side I think befond Coles and Dwight.
J-Mac showed us flashes in 2004 and made some very solid plays, but I have to wonder what the hell is going on with him now. My best guess is that he has some sort of an injury that he is trying to fight through to meet incentives on his contract or something of the sort. Unfortunately, I think his trade value is in the basement now, and I doubt we could afford his accelerated cap hit anymore at this point. I'm sure JI04 can clear that up, though.
... so even if they believe Brad Smith gives them the best chance to win right now they should start a lesser player to try and get better trade value for them?
JMac proved what I said last year, and all offseason on the first day of camp. He is lazy. He may have the talent in himself to be successful, but he doesn't have the desire. He's had opportunites in the preseason to show something, and he hasn't. He's done here. Brad Smith has worked his tail off to get prepared, no matter what he is asked to do. He even played well when he was thrown into the QB slot with no warning. This is the new Jets. You either fly with us, or we fly you out.
