The Replubican 180 flip week continues.

First Sean Hannity, then Turtle Mitch, and now Desantis all coming out on camera to support the vaccine this week.
Also a Replubican congressman who publicly got the vacs, but his name escapes me.

I should have worded it better... as in "so easily"... I think it would have helped the messaging.

    As opposed to this stuff-

CDC: Evidence suggests fully vaccinated people do not transmit COVID-19
    https://www.krqe.com/health/cdc-evidence-suggests-fully-vaccinated-people-do-not-transmit-covid-19/

Yes, vaccines block most transmission of COVID-19

Can I still spread COVID-19 if I’m vaccinated?
    https://www.rochesterfirst.com/coronavirus/can-i-still-spread-covid-19-if-im-vaccinated/

Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, an infectious disease expert at the University of California at San Francisco School of Medicine, says he thinks “it’s very unlikely” that vaccinated people can transmit the virus.

“The more evidence we get, it appears it’s very unlikely for a vaccinated person to transfer the virus to someone else,” Chin-Hong said.

The vaccines are especially effective at preventing asymptomatic disease, which Chin-Hong says is where most of the transmission appears.

Chin-Hong also cited real-world studies out of the U.K. and Israel that showed that there’s “very little transmission from vaccinated people.”

The study out of Israel, for example, found that the Pfizer vaccine was at least 97-percent effective in preventing symptomatic disease, critical disease and death.

Similarly, the study found the vaccine to be 94-percent effective at preventing asymptomatic COVID infections, suggesting the vaccine may help stop transmission of the virus.

The bottom line: If you’re fully vaccinated, the chances of you spreading COVID-19 are very low, which is yet another incentive to get one of the available vaccines.

    It’s official: Vaccinated people don’t transmit COVID-19

Of course if one's entire base of knowledge is derived from the Twitter universe, one will often deduce false premises. It's almost as if the effectiveness of the various vaccines was never disclosed; of course 280 characters may be insufficient to adequately explore such information.

This is not at all about choice - it is about understanding the capabilities and effectiveness of the vaccines. Sometimes people may need to read beyond the headlines and captions and understand what they've read.

180 flip? I'd assume you have clips of them publicly coming out against the vaccine as Biden and Harris did in order to call this a 180 flip.

This is not my work but it is an excellent post that I saw this morning on a forum regarding the variant.

Alpha was 50% more contagious than the original coronavirus. Delta is another 50% more contagious. But the thing that is especially concerning is that Delta carries over 1,000 times more viral load than the virus of orgin. What that means is that infection can occur in only a few minutes and even at distances more than 6". This thing is vicious for those unvaccinated.

For those vaccinated, it's not that great either as breakthrough infections are occurring more often. In Sonoma County, 1/3 of the 90 infections at a homeless residence were breakthrough infections. It's obvious that in enclosed spaces this virus can still be caught if you are vaccinated. The 5 Texas Democrats who met with a Pelosi aide who then met with a wH aide resulting in all 7 getting infected. All 7 were fully vaccinated.

New precautions are needed based on the what we know so far:
    1) Indoor gatherings continue to be the riskiest.
    2) Ventilation is key whether indoors with a group or in a car sharing a ride. Open the windows.
    3) Masking and distancing is even more important now. Mask in your own home if others from outside your household visit.
    4) Surface transmission needn't be a worry since covid fomite transmission is rare if ever.
    5) Viral load is the concept to be concerned about now. Limit viral load by being cognizant how much time you spend indoors with others from outside your household.
    6) Be aware of your county's infection rate. Available here: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid...
    7) Be aware of your county's vaccination rate. Available here: https://www.nytimes.com/int...
    8) If #6 is high and #7 is low, and especially if you are at high risk, then use all precautions regardless of vaccination status.

Certainly the vaccine lowers the probability of getting Covid, spreading Covid, creating new variants and extending the pandemic but the CDC and the administration seem more concerned with encouraging non vaccinated to get the vaccine than giving us the full truth about Delta and taking sensible precautions against the variant.

That is the problem encouraging the unwashed non vaccinated to do something for the betterment of everyone, themselves, their country, their neighbors, their enemies and their loved ones. Doing something for others is such a foreign concept to them just as it is a foreign concept for the government to level with us and be honest with us how bad the Delta variant is.

The death rate is the most important but nobody is talking about that. I don’t see hospitals or funeral homes overflowing, do you? Life must go on

You do realize getting Covid and testing positive for coronavirus are two different things?

Are you suggesting that vaccinated people can test positive, but they won't actually get any symptoms of Covid-19? Because that's not true. And what message do you think the President was trying to convey with that statement?

Yes, and it is true. You can test positive without showing any symptoms. There are also vaccinated people who do show symptoms, so what Biden said isn't true, but it's also not far from the truth. And I'd imagine the message is to get vaccinated, which people should do.

Yes you can test positive and not show any symptoms. I worded that poorly. Even non vaccinated people can test positive and be asymptomatic. But it has been proven that vaccinated people can test positive AND still get sick from Covid-19 (bit not as sick as someone who is unvaccinated). Biden is making it sound like it's not possible to get sick from Covid-19 of you are vaccinated and that's a big Pinocchio.
