I've been a huge fan of 'Lil Ray for years. He always amazed me how big he covered compared to his size. But there's only room for so many. I do hope we can keep him around for another year and then have him retire. The way corners have a habit of going down, we might need him at some point this season.
Very good post. I am actually amazed at that first article. It was all news. No piss and vinegar, just facts sprinkled with observations. I didn't think that was even possible in our market anymore. Thanks Ecko.
I too am afraid that we wont keep Brooks. I think Brooks is better than Ramsey and hopefully we keep him.
I'm not a huge fan of Ramsey either. In fact, we already had a Ramsey-type QB on our roster in Jay Feidler. All we had to do was leave that alone and never bring Ramsey in in the first place. If you're looking for a guy who can promiscuously and inaccurately spray interseptions around, Feidler can do that as well as Ramsey can, any day of the week!
One Mickens observation: I noticed something strange at the end of last weeks game against the Skins. Mangini was stone faced throughout the game, but as the last seconds ticked off, Ian Eagle noted how Magini was finally smiling. Mangini was making his way to shake Gibbs hand and I think it was either #27 Terry Butler or #25 Kerry Rhodes (I think it might have been Rhodes) was playfully jostling with Mangini, and obviously sharing a joke. Mickens came up behind Mangini and said something probably like "great first win coach" but Mangini barely recognized him and turned his head to continue toward Gibbs. It could have been nothing, or just Mangini knowing that Mickens wasn't going to around that long, and didn't want to bond with him. I could be wrong. Anyone else see that??
I saw it too, and it was Kerry Rhodes. Mangini challenged him to step it up and be the defensive leader, and he has come through. It seems like Mangini & Rhodes have bonded, and Rhodes is acting like the leader that Mangini wants him to be.
excellent articles i hope mickens sticks around though, we could use a veteran on this D (post 700, and ive never used one of those smiley face things and im not about to!)
Cool, I'm glad someone else noticed it. Rhodes could be a monster. Lets just hope he continues learning technique, and doesn't get hurt.
Damn I dont want Mickens to be cut. Hes a good vetran player to have around. He's done alot for this organization. As far as Barrett I think he should be the nickel back and Miller should be the starter. I've seen a lot more from him.
