I realize this is a rather stupid and minor thing to post about, but I found it amusing, and we can certainly use amusing right now: From KFFL.com: Buccaneers | Team contacted C. Dillon Tue, 2 Oct 2007 07:08:28 -0700 ESPN.com reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers contacted the agent for free-agent RB Corey Dillon (Patriots), Steve Feldman, to gauge Dillon's interest in joining the team. Feldman then asked Dillon if he was interested via a text message. "No," is what Dillon replied in a text back to Feldman. Are deals now being conducted via 14 year old girls? Did the text look like this? Want 2 play for Bucs? I m 4 real. They luv u. TXT me back l8r.
A lot of stuff is done through text messaging now.... I'm not sure why, but it is.... For instance, with the gunman at St John's last week, the students were notified via Text message to stay in their classrooms... Bizarre, but true
It just seems like a hilariously stupid way to break the story. Instead of simply stating that Corey Dillon was approached and declined, they go into the story of how he was texted to gauge his interest and simply texted "No" in response.
Even better, would be someone being cut from the team by text message. Soz bro. we cut u. too many ppl on team. ttyl
Most schools are doing that now. Everyone has a cell phone nowadays, with most people having text messaging. Easy way to get mass messages out wherever someone is.
