Conor Orr @ConorTOrr Hey now, Yeremiah Bell off the board. #nyj #jets RT The @AZCardinals have agreed to terms with S Yeremiah Bell and LB Lorenzo Alexander. A bit surprised about this. If I didn't know better, I'd say Idzik is giving Rex's defensive mind a true test.
Why surprised, the Jets can't afford him. Or anybody else for that matter. The only surprise should be that Landry wasn't first.
Free agency opened up yesterday. It's only been 26 hours. There is no reason to whine about anything. You do realize we can't get the big names in free agency, right?
I understand Idzik's conservative approach But my god, do something already. And no I don't mean lex hilliard
Exactly ... i think he should of been a priority their arent that many S to pick from i would bet money we cant afford Reed or Woodson to top it off i can realistically see reed go to the pats.. unless our former Ravens DC pulls some strings
Going to be a different team next year. Considering how the last two years turned out, not necessarily a bad thing.
You do realize I'm not suggesting we sign big names. But we shouldn't be losing Keller, Bell or DeVito. We released Pouha and restructured Cromartie and Holmes for what? And yet we bring back Lex Hilliard and still have Tim Tebow on this team!!!! :breakdance:
Yeah, we signed Lex to a 13 million dollar contract!!!! Keller was inconsistent and a security blanket for Mark. That's not exactly a good thing when he forces balls to him, no matter the coverage. DeVito was a run stopper. It's too bad we had the 26th ranked run defense. I don't think we'll miss him a whole ton. As for Bell, I am honestly a bit surprised that we let him go. I thought we would sign him on the cheap. We're probably going younger though, which isn't bad at all. A lot of people wanted to 'blow shit up'. Now, we're blowing shit up, and people are complaining.
Whats the point in it though? The Jets aren't going to compete this year, so why tie up money into a 35 year old safety? The Jets are better off letting a young guy go through some growing pains this year, see what he is capable of, and saving the cap space. Remember that whatever they are under the cap this year, can be carried forward to the following year (I believe this is true, someone correct me if I'm wrong). This is a team in the rebuilding phase, no reason to spend unnecessary money on old players who would only be here for a year or two, tops.
No worry I am sure we have a couple of victa Cruz's on the roster that will be unveiled in 2013......
Lex Hilliard shouldn't be on this team. He was terrible for us last year. Keller may have been a tad inconsistent, but he was a legit target and could have been outstanding in the WCO. DeVito was a great role player for us, and now because we did not get him re-signed and have released Pouha we have lost a bunch of depth, experience and leadership on the DL. Losing Bell is a significant loss To sum up how our off season is going we are going to need to replace starters Pouha, Scott, Pace, Thomas, Bell and probably Landry and Revis. On offense we are going to have to replace a Greene and likely Keller and Moore. That's 10 starters from last year, and the only thing we have done is sign a shitty FB.
Doesn't the WCO favor TEs who are good pass/run blockers who can occasionally go across the middle for a pass? From my understanding, Keller actually isn't a great fit for this new offense. With that said, I would have liked to see him back. I think he could be a great weapon with a coordinator who knows how to use him and with a QB who can get him the ball in space
