http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2017/04/12_mid-round_options_for_jets_in_nfl_draft_includi.html Hughes' article lists some possible mid-round picks for the Jets. I've seen Kamara play once, have seen some video and read several things about him. I've seen Anderson play several times, but have mixed feelings on him. I've seen what some of you have said about Melifonwu, Peterman, King, Hodges. The only thing I know about Taylor, Davenport, Morgan and Orlosky is what Hughes shares from nfl.com. I'm curious what you guys think about these prospects. His possible mid-round picks are: Nathan Peterman, QB, Pittsburgh Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee Taywan Taylor, WR, Western Kentucky Bucky Hodges, TE, Va. Tech Julie'n Davenport, LT/OT, Bucknell Jordan Morgan, OG, Kutztown Tyler Orlosky, C, WVA Desmond King, CB/S, Iowa Obi Melifonwu, S, Connecticut Ryan Anderson, OLB, Alabama
I like Peterman if they don't get Mahomes early; kind of like a "fall back" choice, because I believe they need a QB and don't have the answer on their roster now. I like Davenport from what I've seen and read. While he might need some work, he's got great physical ability and has employed it successfully. Hodges' stock is dropping, and I think there might be better options available, like maybe Butts. If Melifonwu was available in the 3rd round to them it would be a shock, but they should pounce on him if that happens. I don't know anything about the other guys to comment.
I can understand why Hodges stock is dropping if he drops passes, and his blocking needs work. I like both Leggett and Butts better than Hodges. Based on what I've read in scouting reports and here, and his Combine numbers, I'd be shocked if Melifonwu was sitting there in the 3rd round for the Jets. I think he'll go in the 2nd round at the latest, and maybe even late 1st round.
