They'll always be the Devil Rays.

Congratulations to that franchise for finally making the playoffs and clinching the AL East.

Who woulda thought that when they joined MLB in 1998, they would be the next non New York/Boston team to win that division. They've been through a lot, but in the last several years, they've been doing it the right way. Seems as though they were a year or two ahead of schedule as well.

I am happy they lost yesterday and it was the YANKEES who officially gave them division by beating the hated Red Sox.

Congrats to the Rays though, impressive year to say the least.

i live here in tampa, and trust me there not a year or two ahead, they've been going backwards for years.

not hard to finaly have a good team when you have the #1 pick in the draft every year

Yeah, just look at how great the Pirates and Royals are! Don't be stupid.

They had a change in management and they started drafting and developing the right way. They've been gradually upping the money they've spent. They're built to last.

Like I've been saying...This Rays team is a special team and we ARE built for the future... Just about every young talent is signed long term and as a Rays fan...It's freaking exciting! Cant wait for the playoffs baby!

In June...People were laughing @ me because I knew this Rays team was amazing...People on this site were saying stuff like... "The Rays are 2 young" The Rays lack the experience needed to win in September" "The Rays will fall apart in September"

Looks like they were all WRONG

I have said it once...And I'll say it again...This is only the start of things to come, this Rays squad will be a beast for the next 5+ years with the young potential and talent that we have.

AL East champions! Cant wait to see the banner! Now it's playoff time and you know what? Crawford is back...Longoria is back and playing great... I can really see this team winning it all but you know what? Win or lose...This has been a magical season of baseball for the Rays! Worst to 1st baby, worst to 1st!

Are you kidding me? You really think Longoria, Upton and Price won the AL East this year for the Rays? lol, because those are the only three players who the Rays drafted #1 and you know what? David Price has played less than a month... Lets just name some players on this 2008 Rays squad who WERE NOT drafted #1, lol, do you even follow baseball?

    Kazmir
    Shields
    Garza
    Sonnanstine
    Jackson

    Percival
    Wheeler
    Howell

    Crawford
    Pena
    Iwimura
    Navarro
    Bartlett
    Aybar
    Zobrist
    Hinske
    Floyd
    Gross
    Perez...

Man...I can go ON AND ON, it's just silly what you just said... I think you watch way to much ESPN if you believe that

H3ll yeah, he can really throw the damn ball, 94-97 MPH @ all times...I think Balfour was an amazing pickup and it's clear to see that the Rays have one of the best bullpens in the league

The Rockies play in the NL West...A weak divison...The Rays play in the AL East-The best in all of baseball...And they just won the AL East, that speaks for volumes...

This Rays team has amazing young talent and top notch pitching, something that the Rockies dont have. The Rays will be a better team next year... It's clear to see

The futurue is bright here in St.Pete, thats for sure

I think right now that for the next 2-3 seasons it will mainly be Sox-Rays in the East. The Yankees are just a little to far behind in player development. This Rays team is damn good and anybody who thinks otherwise is delusional. I do think they got a little lucky to win the division, since the Sox have a significantly better run differential but a better record is a better record.

You again. At this beginning of the year I thought the Rays were much better than most people realized, and I felt happy for them. They're a great story. You have almost made me hate the best story in baseball this year.

Everything worked for the Rays this season, that's all that's to it. Pitching was great, offensive found ways to win, it's that simple.

Youth is everyone theses days. Props to the Rays, glad to see him them win the division over the Red Sox. It's truly amazing how they went from worst to first in over a season of play. It'll be interesting to see how far they go in the playoffs.
