Does anyone have a concern about our 2 draft picks coming from smaller non traditional big power football schools? Temple played in a conference with only 9 rushers over 600 yds, and 2 of those played for Temple. There were 8 qb's sacked more than 20 times which raises a flag as to the level of skill on the offensive lines in the conference. Hampton played in a similar conference, although there were less sacks given up. I know about the "diamond in the rough", and am prepared for the "Klecko came from Temple!" arguement, I just wanted to hear of any concerns about this or if it is just something that doesn't matter. I have heard thes comparisons about offensive linemen in the past under this same small school scenario, and that they appear better than they are due to their competition. Thoughts......

small schools produce some GREAT players, you don't wish to hear about Joe Klecko then how about Walter Payton & Jerry Rice just to name 2.

Jerry Rice, Mississippi Valley State College begs to differ.

Yeah, and? He would be the guy i referenced in the opening post. I know he came from that school. My point in the whole post, is that you sometimes see guys get eaten alive by the NFL because, although they were good.great in college, it didn't translate to a great pro career. I am asking if anyone has concerns this may happen to our new guys because of the lack of talent they faced in college.

I have some concern over Wilkerson, although he played well against Penn State. However, I have faith in Rex choosing defensive players - if he liked him, that is good enough for me.

No concern over Ellis because he is not really a small school player - he is an SEC player that got kicked out for being young and immature. If a guy can get recruited by an SEC school, and play for that school, that dude is no fluke.

No concerns along those lines. Guys can come from small schools, big schools, or even no school (Eric Swann and Otis Sistrunk were two such rarities) and be good. Guys can come from big schools and blow (Gladys Gholston).
It depends on the player as opposed to the school or conference. All these players drafted this week have the skill set to at least fill certain roles on their new teams. Some will be terrible busts. In many cases it will be because the guy does not have the desire or dedication to stay in the league.

TO, Demarcus ware, Tony romo, Bart Scott, Joe flacco, randy moss, osi umenyora, and Brian Westbrook all say hi.

Not to mention all the other players that came from schools that didn't have good programs at the time. Mario Williams, Asante Samuel etc
