The offense will have to make some big plays and the defense cannot endure growing pains. Also, the threshhold will have to be ten wins and there will have to be a little luck along the way.
Satan needs to step up, because for the Jets to make the playoffs Woody would have to make a deal with the devil.
I can believe that the defense is capable of playing at a playoff level. From a talent perspective, I think there is enough to play at that level in a good system. It would require a few players to play better than they have, but it's mostly young players whom I can believe it about. On offense, I think the answer is actually Curtis Martin. Whatever you think of Blaylock, Houston or Washington, I don't think anyone here sees these guys as potential superstars. If Curtis Martin played his mind out like he did for Herm a couple of years ago, the Jets will have a real running game and a strong defense. Conventional wisdom says that if you add that to a conservative QB who will take the what the defense gives him and protect the ball, you can make the playoffs. I think that there is a QB who can do that on the Jets roster - probably more than one. Pretty far-fetched, huh?
Eric Crouch needs to get his ass out of the CFL and sign a minimum salary contract with the Jets and beat out all 4 of the Jets "potential starters" at QB...he then dominates the league for the rest of eternity, because he is a Highlander.
The OL and Chad's health. If those 2 areas hold up we can be a playoff caliber team but that's alot to ask.
Isn't he a hockey player? Oh...maybe you mean he needs to get in on Gretzky's wife's gambling ring and help fix some games in our favour....I gotcha.....
